Dawn of the Night Chapter 2 - At the Mercy of Evil

Chapter 2 – At the Mercy of Evil
The next room Dracula makes the couple enter is an armory filled with various weapons and armor. The room is untouched even though there isn’t even a hint of dust on any of the surfaces. This emptiness doesn’t relax either of the two and instead puts them on guard. Seeing that they can’t get the drop on them, the demonic forces hidden within the room go for a frontal assault. Different kinds of weapons and armor lift themselves up from the places they're held in and fly at the couple. They attack with brute force as Alucard and Silvia defend themselves from their assault until all of the weapons and armor form soldiers.
All of the items in the room were the possessions of famous soldiers from the land and from foreign lands. It appears that their previous owners are possessing their former gear because of their skills and voice.
They say things such as, “You are fighting for the wrong cause. Humanity is meant to be subjugated under demonkind.”
“They can save us.”
“Turn us immortal.”
“There will be no more suffering. No more death.”
“You will only prolong this conflict of good versus evil.”
These words coming from the noble warriors of legend throw off the couple so that the suits of armor get a couple cuts into them. They shake their heads and realize that either the warriors are possessed, or the armor is possessed by an entity acting as the warriors. Despite changing their thinking, the warriors are still difficult to defeat especially since they appear to have the same abilities and strength as if they were in their prime.
Alucard then switches up his tactics and sprinkles holy water on the armor. This makes the swords and armor rust away until they are dust. Silvia follows suit and the rest of the armory rusts away.
“What gave you the idea to bless them?” Silvia asks.
“Nothing did. It was just an idea. Haha.”
Silvia rolls her eyes with a smile. The next area they enter is a graveyard that is usually located at the bottom of the castle. Corpses start rising from the millions of graves and start attacking them.
“Ha! These are nothing but fodder to us!” Alucard remarks.
Before they know it, the corpses are sucked into the air to form a large sphere in the sky that almost covers the moon.
“You just had to open your mouth,” Silvia says with an angry look on her face.
The being in the sky says, “We are Legion. All will be one under God or the devil. What is the difference?”
“We are servants of love and good rather than slaves to flesh and evil. That’s the difference,” Alucard says as he transforms into a giant bat to fight Legion in the sky.
While Legion is using the many corpses on its body as projectiles and defense against Alucard, it sends out tendrils made of bodies to attack Silvia. She cuts down a couple before leaping on one so that she can fight Legion while on top of the main body. The tendril she fights against her as it uses the bodies that make it up as a sort of defense against her. Before she can even get to the main body, catapult, and archers from below launch an assault of flaming arrows and artillery against Legion. The skin of the many bodies composing Legion falls off as a result of the flames, which makes Silvia fall off. Alucard catches her as Legion burns in pain. Eventually, the fire clears away the skin off Legion and the skeleton of the many corpses fall to the ground with some even falling to the war outside the castle.
They become skeleton soldiers almost immediately.
The skeleton soldiers say, “You will not last against our assault.”
“Our Lord will not abandon us. You cannot overcome us with numbers alone.”
The Western and Eastern Church soldiers say almost the exact thing, which gives both Churches and the couple the divine energy to quickly dispatch their enemies that appear to be as numerous as the stars. Before more can be destroyed, the skeletons float up to the sky again and form a reaper with a scythe.
The reaper says, “Death to the living, the flame has no living heart. In the order of life, it eventually ends. As you see it, your plan, had a small chance of victory. Your window of opportunity is gone. Your life is over.”
It then raises its giant scythe, as the mortals around it wonder what it’s talking about.
“Calling the children. Conception and dying. Silent but screaming. Judgment is at hand for all.”
The reaper then brings down the scythe upon the world to cut it in half. Alucard catches the edge of the blade and manages to hold it with all of his strength. He tries crushing it with his hands while Silvia tries breaking it as well. The Church sees this sight and doesn’t know what to think exactly. Are these vampires good or is there some kind of civil war going on? The Church doesn’t dwell on this question for too long as they help the vampires destroy the giant scythe while defending them from demonic forces. With everyone’s forces combined, they break the giant scythe which gives Alucard the opportunity to fly up to the reaper and cut its head off. He then smashes the head to the ground. This shakes the ground like an earthquake and makes some of the demonic forces retreat in fear.
As the dust settles, Alucard takes this opportunity to disappear. He takes Silvia and flies back to the castle. When they’re gone, the question of the two vampires comes back to mind for a minute before the battle resumes against the remainder of the demonic army.
“Things can’t get any harder from here,” Silvia says as they land near the door they came out of.
Silvia opens the door only for a three-headed flaming dog to lung out of them. Alucard pulls her out of the way just as the jaws of the dog close their mouth on her. It appears that Dracula switched this entrance for the front entrance of the castle.
“You can never complain about me speaking too soon ever again,” Alucard says as he transforms again to fight the creature.
The canine has three heads melded into one. One breathes fire, another breathes ice, and the last breathes acid. It’s almost impossible to get close to the creature let alone damage it since the creature is on fire. Thinking on his feet, Alucard breaks down the top part of the castle and brings it down on the flaming dog, crushing it. The room that Alucard brought down is where the throne room is usually located, but it appears to be an empty room, possibly the room where the possessed armor and weapons were located.
Again, the Church’s army doesn’t know what to think about this display. They are saved again because of these vampires, but they are wary of their motives because few vampires turn out to be good people. Some in the army hope to question these creatures soon as the demonic army is almost destroyed. Meanwhile, Alucard and Silvia renter the castle as Dracula plays his trump cards as the couple is closer to him than they think.

*What the reaper says in this chapter is taken from this song from Silent Hill Homecoming. For some reason, it came into my head and I thought it would fit perfectly with what he was about to do.
