Society's Monster posts #2

We are devils to modern society. We are sinners saved by Christ's sacrifice for us. We do good even though people think we're doing evil. We are Society's Monsters.

Remember that you will only live for a certain extent of time. Doctors and medication can prolong life but never keep it from death. Make your actions count every day and live a faithful life.

When you stand up for what's right, you will be hated, but it's important to make the right enemies. It's an honor to be loved by God and hated by the devil and his demons.

Christ is my motivation in restarting Society's Monsters so that I can help people and bring their souls to true happiness and salvation.

Today is another day to improve yourself, to help someone, and to serve Christ. Make today worth living.

If you ever wanted to know what the Catholic Church itself is, then this song by Flyleaf will give you a good idea.

You should be ashamed of your sins but you shouldn't let that shame get to you. Confess your sins and keep trying to break your sinful habits. Even saints went to confession once a week to confess the things that only God knew they did.

I sketched this picture for Society's Monsters to give you an idea of The Veiled Beauty of False Truth. She tells you the truth with one side of her mouth while the other infects it with lies. Do not be deceived by lies that sound like the truth. Truth is pure unlike false truth.

Just like the Catholic Church and God, Society's Monsters accept sinners who are willing to dedicate themselves to the living word that is Christ. We accept all kinds of sinners. We are monsters after all.

The forces of evil never stop trying to redefine good as evil. Today it is clearer because people have been slacking or they've fallen for the lie that is progressivism and modernism. The truth never changes. The truth is alive and is God.

What can I do to help people today? What can I do to serve Christ? What can I do so that I am satisfied as well? These are questions I ask myself every day (in no particular order) so that today can be a day worth living.

Society's Monsters posts #1

I've been posting under #SocietysMonsters on Twitter to get Society's Monsters as a group going. Here are the posts I have so far. The more I get, the more I'll post here since I feel like I need a bunch to constitute a blog post. Consider joining by using the #SocietyMonsters and contacting me.

"We are devils to modern society. We are sinners redeemed by Christ's sacrifice. We are Society's Monsters."

I think this song perfectly fits Society's Monsters. This is what we're about.
"Won't bow to man. Won't bow to government.
Won't trust in a failed system of self-fulfilling lust.
Won't love a world where my God is mocked.
I defy."

If there is nothing that you dedicate your life to, then you don't love anything. Love is extreme and if you won't sacrifice yourself for a cause or a person that you love, then there is nothing that you truly love other than maybe yourself.

In the beginnings of Christianity, the apostles only had the Spirit in them to help spread Christ's saving message of salvation for all. We have so much more than they do, so why aren't we accomplishing more? We should be doing more to bring souls to salvation.

The worst people in the world aren't the ones that know they're sinful, it's the hypocritical people that think they're good. They masquerade and think they're good people, but they're nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing and sometimes they're you.

Only Catholics are allowed to be part of Society's Monsters not only because extra ecclesiam nulla salus, but also because we are unified under Christ just like the Catholic Church. This unity is our strength. This is why the gates of hell will never prevail against God's Church.

Society's Monsters is based off a bunch of dreams I had that I think might be memories. Read the free story linked below for a quick summary of it. You don't need to know it in order to join the group, but it might be interesting for you to know. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/760127

Sometimes knowing and doing what's right makes you look like evil to other people. Humble yourself, learn the truth, then follow Jesus Christ and love others as He loves us.

Spread the love and joy Christ has given you and don't keep it to yourself and the people you deem worthy. God welcomes everyone including the worst of humanity to receive the gift of salvation and eternal joy. If they reject it that's their loss.

Society's Monsters should focus on the salvation of souls primarily and everything else secondary. We should also focus on educating the young. Our education system is flawed and doesn't teach them the right things they need to know, therefore, we need to be the teachers they need.

People nowadays are entrenched in willful ignorance despite having the internet and dozens of useful books. They'd rather entrench themselves in what they believe to be true than humble themselves to the truth. Pray that these people let go of their pride.

There are two reasons why G.K. Chesterton became Catholic. "One is that he believes it to be solid objective truth, which is true whether he likes it or not; and the other is that he seeks liberation from sin." Catholicism is the truth and must be shared.

I highly recommend the recordings of Fulton Sheen on YouTube if you want to learn more about Catholicism. I also recommend his books; The Mystical Body of Christ and Victory over Vice.

There, but not There & The Soul Burner - Two lost short stories

Short Tale 4 – There, but not There
If you go on the internet and look up the town of Blissful Falls, you will only find talk about the town and a satellite image of a white spot on the earth. Some say that the town was wiped from existed because of the government. Others say it has to do with otherworldly forces and some say it has to do with paranormal entities. There are people that go there to investigate it. Few make it out and even fewer escape without being completely changed. The people that escape tell tales of monsters and a twisted reality. Items brought back from the town are said to turn to ash once removed. Pictures that are taken from inside of it blacken once they leave the town.
A military force went in to investigate and only half came out. They left the town without the weapons, armor, and vehicles that they went in with. They told similar stories of horror like the others, which confirmed that this town is a place that no one should be in. Governments around the world have sent unmanned and unmarked drones to investigate the town, but they are always destroyed once they enter it. A mercenary pilot was said to have been paid by a powerful individual to bomb the town, but once the bombs entered the town, they didn’t detonate nor were they discovered.
This town is indeed mysterious. Go around it if you can. If you don’t, you might see something too horrible to be seen.

Short Tale 5 – The Soul Burner
They say you get judged after death, but what happens if you get judged before then? A man, whose sins were said to rival the devils, is rumored to have instantly combusted when he entered a church. Everything in him burned to a crisp, and yet, he lived. His soul was said to have been cleansed at the cost of his body. He is said to have been tasked with purifying others as he was purified.
Legends tell of a man made of ash that blends in with the darkness with one black coal-like eye and one burning red eye. He appears to sinners who were like him at night or in places of complete darkness. You can’t kill him nor can you run away because he always appears close enough to touch you. When he touches these people, they burn like he does from the inside out then they will either burn to ash or be purified and healed of their burns. Once that is done, the man of ash disappears completely. People, who report their experiences of this man, are active members of their communities who dedicate their lives to help people. This man of ash appears every now and then to burn those who are like him. He is not the judge nor the jury. He is just an executioner with a will to purify souls through fire.

Trapped - Lost short stories

Tale 3 – Trapped
You wake up on a dirty mattress and must be wondering to yourself, “What did I do to deserve this?” The answer: nothing. You just fell down from an air vent as if you were disposable trash. You then shake off your feelings of tiredness and anger and take in your surroundings. The location you appear to be in is a seemingly underground building with air vents, dirty green walls and floors, and windows that lead to walls. There are live cameras on the walls as if you’re part of an experiment or show. Whatever the case may be, you give the camera the finger then look for the exit. The building’s layout is odd so it forces you to guess where to go next and yet, the colors of the floors and ceiling become light as if they’re guiding you to your destination or away from it. You notice this and follow the colors to an open elevator that closes once you walk into it.
A familiar voice comes through a speaker in the elevator. “You are now presented with a choice. This elevator can only go up and down one floor. If you choose up, a police officer will die. If you choose down, a soldier will die. Choosing neither will kill all three of you. Both are dedicated to their jobs and good people but must give their life to save yours. It’s their job to protect citizens like you, so who will be your hero?”
You pace back and forth in the elevator while cursing at the camera. You try to open the elevator doors but nothing opens them. Forced to make a decision, you choose…the officer. It seems that you made this decision because you think this’ll get you out of this underground looking place faster and that a soldier can do more good than a police officer. Someone is screaming above you and blood is bathing you as it leaks down from the ceiling. Once the elevator moves up and the doors open, you quickly rush out and wipe the blood off your face and guilt off your mind.
This floor’s colors are rusty, brown and the layout is different than the last’s. On this floor, you find a mother who is cradling herself in a corner. She has just gone through a choice similar to yours. One that has scarred her for life. She loved her kids equally so she couldn’t get herself to choose one or the other, which lead to both of them dying and her being covered in their blood as they screamed for her. You try helping her, but she is in too much shock to move so you make your way through this floor’s maze and make it to the next elevator.
The voice speaks through the speakers. “Another choice is presented to you. This elevator is the same as the last but with different choices. If you choose up, a murderer who avenged their child by killing a teenager will die. If you choose down, you will go down a floor. Choose neither and you will both die.”
You think for a second before choosing down. After the last question, it looks like that you don’t want any more blood on your hands even if the person might deserve it. Again, you go through the same floor you just went through and enter another elevator.
The voice says, “Let me tell you something that that mother you met doesn’t know. One of her children did survive her non-choice. It was just a test to see what she would choose, but now you have a choice. Save her by going down. Save the child by going up. Choosing neither will kill both and reunite the family in the afterlife and will force you to go to a newly revealed elevator on this floor.”
This difficult choice makes you walk back and forth a bit before you choose to go up. You close your ears to her screaming before you run out of the elevator in her blood. On this familiar level, you see the face of someone new. Someone who has made similar choices and is coated in the same colors as you.
“Hello,” you say.
“Hey, do you know what’s happening around here?”
“I have an idea, but I don’t know more than you.”
“Well, that’s unfortunate.”
“You think it’d be a good idea to stick together?”
“Yeah, I guess, but I don’t know what the upside is.”
“We could make the decisions together so it’s easier to choose.”
“True, but we’re still deciding on someone’s life.”
“Hmmm. You’re right.”
“But we can still escape here together. I’d rather be with someone rather than no one.”
The two of you shake hands then walk together through the maze of this floor.
“So, what’s your story?” you ask.
“I don’t really have an interesting one. I’m just a normal teacher at a high school.”
“Oh, well what do you teach?”
“Mathematics.”
“I won’t even comment about that.”
“What do you do then?”
“It’s a long story, but it’s nothing too special.”
“So, we’re basically both normal people.”
“Mostly normal.”
“Right, I wonder who would kidnap mostly normal people.”
“I don’t have a clue.”
“Me neither.”
The next elevator you go to is one that has a cage for both of you. One side is green, the other is blue. You both pick a side to stand on with you choosing green. The voice comes on once you are both in and says, “Since you two are here together, you’ll have a unique choice to make. One person must decide to sacrifice their life for the other. The person on the green side is making this decision. Up makes the decision maker live, down makes you die. Pushing neither makes both of you die. You have five seconds to choose.”
“I thought something like this would happen! So it comes down to this,” your friend says.
“What are you talking about?”
“Press up.”
“Are you sure?”
“Just do it already!”
Without time to think, you press up and the elevator is split in half with your friend’s half falling down to the bottom floor. You’re glad that you didn’t choose to end a life, but at the same time, you did. The elevator goes up and presents to you a new floor with a different design. It has a crimson color to it and there are cell doors blocking some of the rooms. One of the doors open and you enter it to find a room filled with red lights. You look to your left and see another person who’s in a similar room though you can’t see their face.
The voice comes on from speakers in the room. “Your fate will be decided with a race. You two will run through a maze and the first person who gets to the elevator goes up while the person who loses will have to go down. Good luck.”
You quickly face the door and wait for the door to open. Once the lights in the room go green and an air horn sounds off, you start to run your ass off. Despite the fact that you’re competing with a police officer, you manage to stay ahead of them. The fear of staying in this underground facility pushes you forward until you eventually make it to the elevator first. The elevator moves up one floor before it stops. You walk around the elevator and try pressing the buttons in it, but nothing happens. A scream is heard below you and you jump in response. The elevator then resumes its climb upward until it opens at the top floor. You enter what looks to be a control room with cameras, switches, and other such mechanisms operated by people whose faces are cloaked in darkness. A bulletproof glass wall separates you from them, but what you are most focused on, is the person who is looking at you and ready to answer your questions. That person, which is me.
You step forward and ask, “Why?”
“You’re not going to try to attack me like last time? That’s progress,” I say.
“Answer the question.”
“Okay. We do this to test human decision making when they are faced with difficult choices that are in the gray area.”
“But why did you have to make people decide on killing each other?”
“Because that’s what makes it difficult. Every choice saves, spares, or kills a life.”
“You’re sick for making people do this.”
“Am I? I said the choices kill people but did they really die? No, they didn’t. It only seemed like they did to you so you would feel something after making your decision. No one here dies unless they killed themselves or killed each other with their own hands, which has unfortunately happened.”
You appear to be shocked. I don’t blame you.
You then ask, “So…What happens now? I reached the top. I went through whatever experiments you were conducting. Do I get anything?”
“Yes, you get your freedom.”
You get shot with a tranquilizer dart and get carried out of the building and into a car to get sent back home. You’re going to wake up in your room and maybe think the entire experiment was a dream. If you didn’t, it’s not like you can prove any of this exists. Some people have tried, all of which are helping with this experiment. Nevertheless, I hope you have a good life and I thank you for your involuntary service to humanity.
For me, my day has only just begun as another person gets sent through the vent and falls on a mattress. They groggily get up and must be wondering to themselves, “What did I do to deserve this?”

Disappearances - Lost short story

Tale 2 – Disappearances
Wandering the forests at night sounds like a terrible idea right? So why would you do it especially when several people have disappeared in this forest with bloodstains as the only evidence that they were there? Officers Bennett and Shepard are tasked with this case. Even though they are dedicated and well-armed, they still feel uneasy and who wouldn’t? The duo makes their way there, unaware of the horrors they will witness.
“Who do you think the suspect is; the boogeyman or a werewolf?” Bennett jokes.
“Your mother,” Shepard replies.
“”Ha! I’d believe it. I remember her hitting on you when you came over for dinner.”
“She is probably the scariest person I know.”
“So no one we find will be scarier than her?”
“I don’t know. I’m honestly on edge here.”
“Come on. You’re the one with literal balls here.”
“That doesn’t mean anything. You’re the most positive.”
“And there’s a reason for that. We’re going into a dark forest at night where people have been kidnapped. Sure, we have backup on standby for us and they’ll come if we don’t report in after a while, but I’m just on edge as you are.”
“But we can’t let it bother us. It’ll get us in more danger if we do.”
“You’re right. Now look who’s the most positive.”
“Make sure you have everything you need. We’re here.”
The two officers park at the roadside and go to the area in the forest where blood was found. They’re shocked when they find more blood than what was reported, some of it still fresh. Bennett reports it to command.
“This isn’t going to be good,” Shepard says.
“I know.”
“Hey, it looks like someone was dragged deeper into the forest.”
Shepard points his flashlight at the spot he’s looking at. Though there are breaks in the line, it definitely looks like someone or more accurately some people were injured and dragged deeper into the woods.
“There are multiple blood stains going to different places. Do you think we should-”
“No, we’re not splitting up.”
“Agreed.”
The two follow one trail of blood to a small cabin. The cabin itself is pitch black inside. When the officers enter the cabin, they find an outline of a chainsaw on the wall and a basement door with a circular chain on it.
“Do you think we should just let backup take care of this?” Shepard asks.
“I-I think we should at least take a quick look.”
“I’ll look for the key or something to open it up.”
Shepard finds a key hidden inside a drawer and they open the basement door. In this basement full of spider webs, the stench of death is potent and whispering could be heard from the depths of its darkness. Bennett finds what looks to be a cursed book with satanic markings on them. There also appears to be satanic markings on the floor written in blood.
“Fuck this,” Shepard says as he quickly exits the basement.
“Yeah fuck this,” Bennett agrees.
They leave the house and mark it for investigation. The two then follow another trail of blood that leads to a little house. It’s dark and empty like the other one except this one seems to be the scene of a fight with blood on the floors and the walls. There’s a bloody machete in the basement and a knife pinning a skull to the wall. Camping equipment, empty bottles of alcohol, and other things can be found on the upper floors as if this was a campsite. The officers mark the house and follow another trail.
They are lead to a slightly larger house with caged windows. The house appears to be the sight of a movie or some kind of supernatural horror. It’s contorted and broken down in certain places, however, the boiler room still seems to be operational. A hat and gloves with finger knives are found by it along with rubbery skin that’s left on the floor. In an upstairs room, one of the beds is imploded with a huge red splat of blood on the ceiling. For some reason, there’s a tongue attached to the phone and laughing can be faintly heard from it.
“Fuck this one too,” Shepard says.
“It looks pretty cool, but yeah fuck this if it’s all real.”
They mark the building and follow the last blood trail.
“All of these houses are weird as shit,” Bennett says.
“I know. They all seem to be the site of a horror movie set up.”
“Yeah, I know. I know a few of the references. Did you get them?”
“I got all of them. I watched all of the classics starting from the eighties until now.”
“Really? I didn’t expect you to be a fan.”
“You should come over more often. I have an entire shelf of classic and modern horror movies in my room.”
“Is that how you invite all women to your room?”
“No, I wasn’t trying to imply anything like that.”
“What? I am not good enough?”
“No, you are, but since you wanna talk like that, yes, I wouldn’t want to take your ugly ass to bed and I feel sorry for the guy that does.”
Bennett can’t help but laugh while Shepard holds his laughter in.
“Now I know why my mother likes you.”
“Don’t even bring her up. She likes being rejected.”
The two reach a house that is bigger than the rest but doesn’t have any blood or weapons on it. The only things they find are daddy longlegs insects and an abandoned travel van with a wheelchair in it.
“There’s nothing here,” Bennett reports.
“At least it wasn’t bloody or messy like the other ones.”
“Did you check the back of the house yet?”
“Not yet.”
“Let’s look at that first before we go back.”
“Alright.”
Shepard marks the house first before they check the back where they find a dirt trail.
“Should we follow it?” Shepard asks.
Bennett is already calling command about it.
“Yep, but command says that we should immediately report in as soon as we come into contact with anyone. The people we could be facing could be some really messed up psychopaths.”
“We’ve got twenty-four bullets and extra clips with us. I think we can handle it.”
“Look who’s the brave man ready to fight with a maniac?”
“I’m just saying we’re well protected.”
They follow the trail which leads them to a little farm with withered crops and a legless, armless scarecrow.
Bennett walks up to it and says, “Aren’t you afraid of these?”
“I was when we were kids, but not anymore.”
“You sure? Go up to it and hug it.”
“What?”
“Hug it.”
“I know what you said, but why?”
“To prove that you’re not afraid.”
“Uck. Fine.”
Shepard hugs the scarecrow and as he does, what seems to be blood seeps out of it.
“The hell?” Shepard says.
“Is that blood?”
“This area has a comedic level of blood everywhere.”
“But why in the scarecrow.”
“Let’s see.”
Shepard breaks apart the scarecrow and finds a dismembered corpse inside.
As Shepard jumps back, he sees shadowy figures in the distance close in on them. He quickly says, “Oh shit! Call backup now!”
Bennett calls command, but then the two get knocked out by people who were hiding in the ground. They wake up minutes later in a basement, chained to the ceiling, and stripped of their clothes. The huge basement is full of rotting corpses of various shapes, sizes, and colors. It looks like a butcher’s factory for humans with several hanging bodies on the walls and ceiling.
Shepard looks over to Bennett and says, “Where the fuck are we?”
“Not in Kansas.”
“We don’t have time for your jokes! Can you get free?”
“I can’t.”
“Me neither.”
Two people who are wearing human skin come into the basement and sharpen their machetes.
“Hey, you fuckers!” Shepard screams, “Let us go! We’re officers and we got backup on the way! Give us up now and we may not give you the death penalty.”
They don’t seem to pay attention. They then walk up to the two then knock the two officers out before they start carving parts of their skin off. The two then wake up at a dinner table with dressy clothes on and strapped to a chair. They’re still in pain but they’re too shocked to feel it now.
“Are you okay Bennett?!”
“I’m fine. Are you?!”
“I’m alright. I can’t get free.”
“Me too.”
Four people walk into the room with human masks on. They are wearing dressy outfits, but their sex isn’t apparent. They put prepared human meat on the table and spread it amongst themselves and the two officers.
“Who the hell do you people think you are?!” Shepard screams while trying to sound intimating.
One of them looks at him, tilts their head, and says, “We’re none of your fucking business!”
The family laughs in unison as if the person said a joke.
“Fuck you guys!” Bennett says in frustration.
They fall silent and stare at her.
“Now there’s no need to SCREAM at the dinner table sweetie.”
Two members of the family force feed Shepard and Bennett as the rest of the family eat.
“So, Shepard, is it? Are you married?”
Shepard tries to spit out the human meat out of his mouth while saying no.
“No? Then what’s this for? Are you going to purpose to someone?”
“Hey, Bennett. I found this photo of two kids, are they yours?”
She tries to say no while struggling.
“No? Is that you in the picture and someone else you know because you two look about the same?”
The voices of the insane family seem to mix as they act like different people and use different languages as if they were all possessed by demons. The two feeding Shepard and Bennett manage to shove the human meat down their throats, which makes them puke it out. This stops the chaotic conversations of the family and gets them mad.
“You think you can insult our cooking like that?”
“You’re scum!”
“You’re filth!”
“You’re shit!”
“You think you’re so tough, don’t you? Why don’t we have a little fight here?”
Shepard and Bennett get cut free and they stagger to stand up because of their exhaustion and pain. Before the psychos can get their weapons for them to fight, the two decide to jump out the nearby window. The family is made silent again.
“Dammit! How come we didn’t think to block the windows?”
“How come you didn’t block the windows?”
“This is like the third time this week.”
“Whatever just get after them!”
Shepard and Bennett immediately get themselves together and run into the forest with whatever strength and adrenaline they have.
“We should make our way back the way we came. Backup should be almost here,” Shepard says.
“Right.”
The family comes out of their house with machetes, knives, cleavers, and one even has a chainsaw. They chase the officers through the forest.
One of the psychos says, “I give you two this, you run as fast as that last woman with her child that we killed yesterday.”
The two officers don’t pay attention to what was said, so it doesn’t get to them. Shepard looks back at Bennett and she looks at him with a smile as if to help push him forward, but then a barrage of sharp weapons fly at her and stab her in the back and head. Her smile fades as does any comfort that Shepard felt. He keeps on running as two of the family hack up Bennett’s body and argues about what to do with it.
“Damn bastards,” Shepard says to himself, “I’ll make you all pay for this!”
Shepard is losing stamina as his body starts to work against him. He decides to run into one of the buildings he inspected before since he still has a lead on his pursuers. He grabs a knife from inside the building and hides inside a closet. The psychos enter the house and walk through it while searching every spot Shepard could be in. The man with a chainsaw gives away his position with his slashing and screams while the others talk a bit too much.
Once Shepard catches his breath, he quietly exits the house. He starts running again once he hears a noise behind him and the chase starts again. Since he didn’t take much of a breather, Shepard starts to lose his strength again, but at least he can see his fellow officers in the distance.
“Hey!” he calls out, “Over here! I need help now!”
“No, he doesn’t!” one of the psychos says.
The officers look around until they see Shepard. They run towards him with their weapons drawn.
As he gets closer, Shepard says. “Toss me a gun and light up these motherfuckers!”
One of the officers tosses the wounded Shepard a gun. He catches it then turns around to shoot his pursuers. The other officers shoot down the remaining family members. Shepard then empties his gun into each of the family members before one of his friends calms him down.
His friend says, “Holy shit Shepard, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I just needed to get that out of my system.”
“Where’s Bennett?”
“Dead. These pieces of shit killed her along with dozens of other people.”
“Damn. I’m sorry man,” his friend says as he puts his hand on Shepard’s shoulder.
“…I’m fine. I just…I just need a long…long break.”

Death - Lost short story

Legend 1 - Death
We all die in the end. Riveting start to a story I know, but it’s true. Everything that begins must have an end. Nothing is safe from decay, aging, and withering. So why waste the time you have living stressed, depressed, and oppressed by the burdens of life when you could be enjoying the many positives of it especially when you have so little time left?
Joan has an incurable stage of cancer and her doctors say she has only a few months to live so she decides to spend the rest of her days enjoying those positives. She goes to Vegas with her family and friends and makes the most of it. While there, she wins a lot of money at the casinos, eats at the best restaurants, shops at the finest stores, and even gets a few admirers while coming out with enough money to live comfortably for the rest of her short life. The time that she has is so good that she decides to stay another week while her family and friends go back home for work reasons.

Day one
Joan decides to go to the casinos again to push her luck and wins in the beginning until she spots a figure in a black cloak and white mask that stares at her through the crowd. It takes her attention away from what game she is currently playing and she loses.
A fellow player she knows puts his hand on her shoulder and asks, “You alright?”
Joan snaps out of the daze then says, “Yeah I’m fine. Do you see someone in the crowd that looks funny?”
            “Everyone here looks funny.”
“No, I mean someone in a black cloak and mask.”
She looks back at the crowd and sees that the figure has disappeared.
“I haven’t seen anyone like that. Did you drink too much already?”
            “Not yet!”
She shrugs off what she saw and ends up winning more than she did the previous day. Though this was in the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but feel like she was being watched. Joan would even see the figure in the corner of her eye, slowly getting closer to her, but when she looks at it, it disappears.

Day two
On the next day, she decides to hang out with the new friends she’s made. They enjoy the city’s luxurious malls, spas, and attractions. The day is going well, but Joan can’t help but feel uneasy. The figure stalks her again and appears to be getting closer and closer every time she notices it in the crowds of people.
Her friends notice how she’s acting and says to her, “Are you feeling okay?”
            “I’m good. Why?”
“You seem to be acting strangely.”
“I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.”
“You sure? We know what you have so if you want to relax just ask.”
“Like I said, don’t worry about it. I’m fine. Now stop being a party pooper and let’s enjoy ourselves.”
Her voice says enthusiasm, but her feelings say worried.

Day three
She decides to confront the figure by herself. It’s obvious to her that others can’t see it and seem to pass through it as if it wasn’t there. Why is she the only one who notices it and why does it concentrate on her? Joan gets dressed and walks outside her room and sees the figure in the hallway, getting closer to her. All of her courage is thrown out the window as the figure’s presence feels overwhelming and each step it takes feels like the ticking of a clock, continuously going forward until the hour is up. She runs away, going from her floor to the next and yet, it catches up to every floor she goes to.
As Joan exists the stairs, the hotel staff try to see what’s wrong, but she ignores them as she runs outside. The staff look around to see if anyone is chasing her since that’s what it looks like and, of course, they don’t see anyone and shrug off what happened. Meanwhile, Joan is wandering the streets, anxious that the figure might be close.
A homeless woman in a dress notices the way Joan is and gets up to grab her. “You’ve seen it, haven’t you? Death itself. I see it in the way you act.”
Joan doesn’t know what to say to the somewhat crazy woman.
“I’ve seen it as well, and it’s closing in on me. If I die, take me as an example of what you shouldn’t do.”
The homeless woman sees the figure directly behind Joan, gets frightened by it, and runs away. Joan falls down in terror, but it ignores her to chase the other woman. The woman tries to cross the street while keeping an eye on it. A mistake that gets her run over by the oncoming traffic. The figure then walks to her body and takes her soul with its bony hands that creep out of its cloak. It then looks at Joan and disappears. For the rest of the day, she stays at her hotel with her head in her pillow, hoping that the figure won’t get her if she doesn’t look at it.

Day 4, 5, and 6
Starting on the fourth day, Joan completely changes her mind.
“I shouldn’t be worrying about death every single second of my life. I should be living it!” she says aloud to herself.
For the next three days, Joan decides to live her life to the fullest while trying to not pay attention to the figure. She does so for the most part as she gets back on her winning streak at the casinos and shopping frenzy. The figure takes the souls of people who die of alcohol poisoning, suicides, and drug overdoses. It doesn’t have any targets that it focuses on for too long unless they are close to death so Joan is safe…for now.

Day 7
Joan’s luck is slowly dying out and the figure is running out of souls to collect so she decides to go all in for her next game.
“This’ll be my last game. Hopefully, I’ll win-No! I will win!” she not so quietly whispers to herself, “Maybe I’ll buy everyone I know something nice before I go home. Maybe I’ll even bring home a nice young man!”
But the stars don’t align, and she loses everything. Her confidence is quickly swept away by despair as she leaves the casino. The only way she can get home now is by selling what she has back at the hotel. This is easier said than done since the hotel is far away from the casino and she doesn’t have anything to pay for a ride back home. She also drank a bit too much, so getting back will be incredibly tricky. Joan then looks over her shoulder to see the figure setting its sights on her. She frantically and blindly runs away from it while hands reach out from its cloak to pull more souls into it.
People around Joan try asking her what’s wrong but she ignores them.
Others think she’s gone mad, however, one of them grabs her and asks her, “Are you being chased or something?”
“Ye-Yes!”
“Where do you want me to drive you?”
“A hotel not too far from here. I’ll pay you with whatever I have there!”
The stranger takes her to the hotel and she packs up whatever she can then bolts out the door only to see a horrifying sight. The figure now towers above the city. Countless hands reach out from its cloak to retrieve the souls of the dead. This sight gets Joan to drop everything that she has and run back inside in terror. She runs up the stairs of the hotel as the figure’s hands chase her up them. Once she reaches the top, she sees that the figure is tall enough to blot out the sun. Joan unknowingly keeps backing up while looking at it and falls off the roof and dies. Her death is ruled as a result of her drinking. Her possessions are sent to her relatives while Joan’s funeral is closed casket because the fall left her body in pieces.
Joan, despite trying not to focus on death, was consumed by it and ultimately accidentally ended her own life when she still had time left. Always thinking about death and not living the life you have is what sours the joys of life. Death is an inevitability and important to life itself because, without it, we cannot appreciate life. Don’t let death scare you. Live with the limited time you have left and make the most of it. Try to fulfill your dreams no matter how impossible they may seem. But always remember to do so responsibly and the right way, or else you’ll end up dead faster than you think.
