There was once a boy who grew up in a family that could barely take care of him. The stress got to his family every now and then to the point where they took out their frustrations on him. The bruises and abuses he took made him almost take his life. He wanted to help people to love and be loved, but he couldn’t even help himself. There was no hope for him in sight though there was this strange light that always seemed to shine in his eyes. He didn’t understand why this light always bothered him, so he just ignored it.
The devil tempted him with a way out, and with no other option in his sight, he took it as he ran away from home. Under the devil’s leadership, the boy hurt and stole from the people that owed debts to the Father of Lies. He was one of the most effective human debt collectors and most ruthless. His victims were broken after he dealt with them both physically and mentally. People were blinded, handicapped, and mentally broken if everything they had and adore wasn’t forcibly taken away from them. The strange light that bothered him before kept shinning in his eyes during these days, but he never understood it. He felt hatred towards this light and tried blocking it out every time it shined in his eyes.
The boy didn’t mind doing this job even if it did disfigure him. His sins paled his skin, his eyes reddened, and the blood that flowed in his veins blackened. He didn’t mind these changes because he was finally happy now that he was making a difference in the world. The boy had many friends and worldly possessions, however, he felt like something was missing from his life. After half a year passed, he learned that he was hurting innocent people. This was made known to him when he went after a mother and her child. The mother protected the child as a mother should to the shock of the boy. He had never known that this is what a mother is supposed to do and questioned her about it. She enlightened him about what was right and wrong, which made him regret everything he did.
For the rest of the year, he helped the people he hurt including the people he hated. He did this while living in a cold house that no one lived in while eating scraps. Everything he did was to make reparations for what he did. This half of year was penance for him and he suffered and cried for everything that he had done. He was alone and pleaded to the strange light that always bothered him to help him in some way.
God had pity on the boy and had him cross paths with a girl his age. The young girl helped the boy up from his sadness and instructed him on how to change his ways. Despite his disfigured looks, the boy charmed her until they fell in love. The young lovers helped whoever they could and did many good deeds. The boy was happier now than ever before. For half a year, his love was the center of his life and the reason for his existing, but something was still missing from his life. The strange light kept shinning in the boy’s eyes. He didn’t mind it as much, however, he didn’t understand what it wanted him to do.
Tragedy struck, and the devil took the life of the young girl as a trade for the boy leaving the devil’s service. The boy now felt lonelier now than ever before. He almost took his life several times as he lost the motivation to do anything. The light prevented him from taking his life. Again, he talked to the light to save him from his sufferings and to reunite him with his love.
God took pity on the boy again and sent the boy’s guardian angel to explain things to him.
The angel said, “Poor boy, weak in understanding. Do you not know that God is the one who loves you and has always loved you before you were born? He kept you living for all of these years hoping that you would show Him love back. Instead, you have given your love to other things and people.”
Once he realized his faults, the boy fell to his knees and said, “Have mercy on me! I had some idea but didn’t know the full extent of my action. Give me the chance to make things up to my one true love to show my appreciation, praise, and love to Him.”
After seeing the honesty in the boy, God allowed him the chance to make things up. The boy had his sins forgiven, done his penance, and dedicated his life to show his love the love owed to Him. Now the boy felt completely satisfied with life. There was nothing else the boy wanted, and yet, God gave him more. He met a young girl, who was his age and like him. The two fell in love and started to spread the love they shared with God and themselves. The boy eventually returned to his parent’s house to help them out. From there, the boy, who became a monster for true love, became a saint for the spreading of love that he got from his true love.
The End
Crawling Back to You by Daughtry is the song I most identify with when it comes to going to Confession. It's one of my favorites from him besides What About Now, September, and Louder than Ever.
