Dawn of the Night Chapter 1 - On the Road to Calvary

Chapter 1 – On the Road to Calvary
A plague of vampires infests all of Europe. The Western Church is struggling to keep the problem within their borders while the Eastern Church is struggling even more to stop this infection from spreading. Dracula and his wife to be, Verona, command their damned legions of undead, immortal, and demonic beings from the safety of their heavily fortified castle. They plan to take over the world for the devil, who gave them their powers. Many mortals have risen to face them, and all have fallen. It seems like all hope is lost.
A vampire couple named, Alucard, who is the son of Dracula, and Silvia, who is the daughter of Verona, have arrived at the castle of their parents ready to destroy them even though they will be destroyed as well when Dracula dies. He is the source of power for all of the evil beings in the land. If he were to die, then they will all turn to ash. The couple chooses to do this despite the consequences because they care about the good people of this world.
Before leaving their house to face their parents, Alucard says to Silvia, “I don’t know if our souls will be damned or saved after this. Just know that once we start this, there’s no turning back.”
“I do not care what will happen to us later as long as we destroy our parents and everything they’ve built. All of the people they’ve killed. All of the lives they’ve destroyed. All of them must be avenged! I think our souls will be saved if we sacrifice our lives to accomplish our goal, and how can you not think this? We can use blessed weapons without them burning our skin.”
“But we are humans infected with demonic power.”
“But humans nonetheless. Have faith, darling.”
“I do.”
“I do as well. Creatures of Hell have no faith, which means we are blessed so we can accomplish our task.”
“It all makes sense to me now.”
Alucard holds Silvia’s hands.
“What would I do without you, Silvia?”
“I’m not sure if you would be better off or not. It’s you who saw the beauty in the world while I was a poor servant girl who hated the world.”
“I made you ugly like me when I made you into a vampire.”
“You made me as beautiful as an angel when I became your bride.”
“You’re right. I will continue to lead us into the dawn of a new day until my dying breath.”
The couple kiss before getting their blessed weapons. Alucard is primarily equipped with a bastard sword and whip while Silvia uses a rapier and various kinds of daggers. The rest of their shared equipment consists of holy water, cross blades, and sharp metal boots. They say a prayer for protection before heading out. The day they chose to attack the castle is the day that it faces a combined attack by the Western and Eastern Church. Most of the demonic forces are on the frontlines, so their masters are left moderately unguarded.
While sneaking up the mountain on which the castle sits on, Alucard says, “We’re almost there. The garden entrance isn’t too far from here.”
“Do you remember the first time we were there? It feels like it was just yesterday.”
“And you were the most beautiful flower in the garden.”
“Were?”
“And you still are. Now’s not the time to worry about that, I sense danger coming our way.”
Flying imps with daggers and target shields attack the couple while they’re scaling the cliff.
One of them says, “Fool! Did your father never tell you that he has a one-way mental connection to you?”
Another imp hits the imp on the head. “They weren’t supposed to know!”
“So that’s how my father was able to always stay ahead of me. Still, I will destroy him and put an end to the madness he’s created.”
Alucard transforms into a large bat creature and fights the imps in the sky while Silvia jumps on one.
“Fly me to your friends and I might make you live,” she says to the imp as she holds a dagger to its throat.
“Whatever you say just don’t lie to me!” the imp says with a wobbly voice.
Silvia manages to competently fight off the imps while standing on one while Alucard makes use of his natural strength. They defeat a large squad of imps before the rest flee in terror. The couple then land in the castle’s garden. Silvia lands the imp on the ground face first so that its face is stuck in the dirt.
“There. Enjoy the last few moments of your life in the dirt,” Silvia says as she walks away from the struggling imp.
The two are about to walk into the castle, but they are interrupted by the ground shaking. The garden plants come to life and start attacking them with their razor-sharp thorns and leaves that seem to almost be made of metal. While the two are fighting against the carnivorous plants, the imp frees himself from the ground. He then tries to sneak up behind Silvia to get his revenge, but he is eaten by an even bigger plant in the garden. The rest of the plants recede as a giant Venus flytrap.
“I don’t remember that being here,” Alucard says.
“Your father always kept secrets from you. I’m sure he has more traps for us inside the castle.”
The giant plant traps the two in its mouth, however, its interior is not strong enough to hold them in for very long as they cut their way out of the plant. The rest of the plants die in the garden as everything in it turns black.
“Now I really am the most beautiful flower in the garden,” Silvia comments with a smile.
Alucard snickers a bit while shaking his head as they enter the castle halls.
“Be careful, Silvia. Remember, father can mix around the rooms with his will so that we’ll be in a room that he wants us to be in. He could’ve even had us appear in the throne room from the garden if he wanted.”
“We’re going to be walking into his traps and there’s nothing we can do, but we’re prepared as long as we have each other.”
“Well said. Do you hear that, father? Your end is rapidly approaching.”
There’s a variety of doors in this hallway with no connecting hallways.
“It appears that father wants us to pick our poison.”
“How gracious of him.”
Alucard picks a door at random and they end up in a dark room that even their vampire vision can’t see in. They cautiously enter the room until the door behind them disappears. The candles in the room instantly light up to reveal that they are in a torture room, but not the normal kind. Dracula uses a succubus and incubus to put his captives under a spell that makes them think they’re being brutally tortured when it’s really just all in their mind. This is done so that the captives will continuously be in pain without the possibility of release through death. As such, this room is filled with people who are in positions as if they were impaled, hanged, stretched out, and other torture methods by an invisible force. Their eyes are completely white and lifeless because they are in a comatose state of pain as they wait for the return of their tortures.
“This is one of the reasons why I’m fighting against you. Do you hear me, father?!”
The room is filled with a pinkish red mist.
“Daddy hears you, prodigal child,” two seductive voices say in unison. “And he wants us to punish you for your deeds against his almighty power.”
“His power is nothing, but a fake given to him by Satan himself!”
“Insolent child. You will die for speaking such nonsense.”
Alucard and Silvia are separated by the mist and are unable to reunite.
The succubus goes to Alucard, circles around him, and says, “Your wife is imperfect. She was a servant who stole and mocked the very being who gave you your blessings. She is nothing but a hypocrite that you should do away with and come back home.”
The incubus looks into Silvia’s eyes and says, “Your husband is a monster. He stood and watched as people were executed in front of him. His redemption is self-centered on his rotting soul and not for the greater glory of God. Kill him and his master and you will be granted greater glory than those of the saints and angels in Heaven.”
The minds of Alucard and Silvia are clouded and jaded. The reasoning parts of their minds are numb, so they are confused as to what they think, but a single thought of their love and true purpose frees them.
Alucard responds to the succubus, “Get your temptations away from me! Your words are empty and so is your power over me!”
Silvia responds also, “You have no clue what you’re talking about! Your truth is a lie and your power is your weakness.”
Despite their powerful mind powers, the two demons aren’t good in a fight and are quickly dispatched by Alucard and Silvia. The mist disappears and the comatose prisoners are freed from their mental prisons. The couple leave the room because they know the prisoners won’t accept that their saviors are vampires. They then continue to go through the castle ready for whatever challenges that threatens their love. Meanwhile, Dracula sits on his throne while watching them. His traps and guards await their targets.
