Friday the 13th The Game or Dead by Daylight?

Both games inspired by classic slasher movies. Both are great games. But which is the better one? After recently playing both of them, I am going to be listing the positives of both games to give you an idea of which you should get first. Whatever isn't a shared positive, is a negative for the other.

Friday the 13th The Game
  • Each Jason is similar but different enough so each works better in different situations. They also have their own distinct look and chase music.
  • The counselors all have their own stats which makes each one different from one another. There are also a decent amount of clothing options with more coming out.
  • Looks decent, but the Friday the 13th scenery picks that up for it.
  • The kills Jason do are animated well.
  • Not only more ways to hide and escape from the killer, but you can fight back.
  • Glitches and ragdoll can lead to unintentionally funny moments.
  • Tons of abilities to catch the counselors.
  • Perks that the counselors have to roll for are incredibly useful if you get them.
  • The makers of the game obviously wanted to make this game good since it appears that they loved the movies.
  • Free DLC along with cheap cosmetic DLC.
  • Music is taken straight from the movies.
  • If you can find the right lobby or the right friends, then you won't need to wait long between matches.

Dead by Daylight
  • Looks really good for an indie game.
  • You can choose if you want to be a survivor or a killer.
  • Customizable killers.
  • Every killer is distinct in both background story play style.
  • You can play as Leatherface, Freddy Kreuger, Michael Myers, and two other characters who are essentially variations on Leatherface (but distinct). The nurse also looks like the nurses from Silent Hill 2 which is also cool.
  • Good music for everything. I especially like the music for the cameo characters like Michael Myers.
  • The odd background story that I wish will get a little more attention.
  • Incredibly stable matches and doesn't have many glitches.
  • Killers are good at catching up to survivors which forces the survivors to think smart to outmaneuver the killers.
  • Tense chases and hiding gameplay as survivors.
  • The love for the slasher/horror genre is apparent.
  • DLC is appropriately priced.
  • Leveling up perks that help you in the game, but don't break it.
  • There's very little wait time to find random people to play with especially if you play as a survivor.
Both games are incredible in my opinion. You'll have a great time with either choice.
