Chapter 5 – Post-Demonic Wasteland
This has been the longest Urban has had to walk. It’s been almost two days and he hasn’t stumbled onto a road, town, or ruined city for miles. The areas he’s walked across are ones that are growing with vegetation and life as sin is expunged from the environment. There are other areas that are ravaged by war and bloodshed. Empty towns and settlements covered in bodies and blood with signs of in-fighting and conflict with not one person alive. There are no supplies in these towns, so Urban has to survive on the few fruit trees and small rivers he comes across.
Seeing that he’s tired, demons spring their trap from the destruction and attack him, but Urban’s let’s God become his strength. He rapidly dispatches of twenty demons without getting a single scratch. He then taunts the demons by beckoning at them with his hands and a smirk. Two large but skinny demons come out of the ground and begin screaming at him as more demons spawn from the decrepit battlefield. This screeching sends Urban into a fit of rage which is both a plus and a minus for the demons since he is even more brutal with his attacks now.
A soft voice whispers into Urban’s ear. He doesn’t know what it’s saying, but he tries to calm himself down in the midst of the fight. He focuses his sights on the screaming demons and fights through the horde to eliminate them by ripping out their throats. Another wave of demons appears that have the souls of the damned as their backup. These souls are the ones that Urban killed himself. They viciously go at him though they don’t have their intended effect on him. The demons wanted him to feel sorry for the hundreds of people he killed but he feels no pity for the damned souls. If they’re scum to God, then they’re scum to him as well.
“Those who forsake truth and love for their own sake deserve no mercy,” he says to the damned souls.
More demons begin to spawn as succubi take the field. They serenade Urban and sexually harass him to throw off his concentration. To get rid of his sexual frustration, he punches holes through their chests.
“You don’t think I haven’t had trouble with women coming after me like this?!”
Seeing that they can’t even scratch him, the demons make a tactical retreat for their trump card.
With his arms out, Urban says, “That’s right you, filth! Run and hide from the Wrath of God!”
A large serpent comes out of the ground. It is the size of a small town and as large as a building. This serpent is like the Leviathan from years ago. Urban takes a few seconds to process the demon standing in front of him.
He laughs then says, “Are you trying to compensate for something demons? My pinky finger is larger than your leader’s dic-”
The serpent then devours Urban. Inside the belly of the beast, he finds large structures and the decaying bodies of animals and people. They come to life and start going after Urban. The serpent’s body then activates its internal defenses as parts of its mouth and body start constructing blockades of flesh. Fire starts pouring out of certain holes in the creature to turn up the heat within its body to try to burn Urban alive. With all of this thrown at him at once, Urban hits his limits.
Voices within Urban say, “Do you think that all the sin-stained blood that you shed now will cleanse you of the innocent people you sold and killed?”
“You’re a weapon only meant to kill. You will never know love or kindness.”
“There’s no place for you in Heaven.”
“God abandoned you.”
“Bow down to us and we might let you live.”
“Kill again for us.”
“Be your own master again.”
Their temptations have the opposite effect on Urban as they activate his righteous anger.
“Enough with all of your useless bickering!” he screams at them. His scream has enough force to kill and break down some of the serpent’s defenses. “The Lord rebukes you all ye slaves of Hell!”
A light ignites within Urban setting his eyes, arms, and legs on fire. He fights with extreme ferocity and speed that the demons are unable to keep up with. No defense is too sturdy, and no attack is strong enough to pierce Urban’s defenses. A single one of his punches can go through several demons and defenses. Even the serpent’s iron skin has trouble taking damage from him. Urban keeps punching and fighting until he finishes with one giant uppercut that cuts the serpent in half. In just one minute, he threw a thousand punches and a thousand kicks.
The blood of his enemies rain from the sky as Urban falls to his knees and catches his breath. He starts to breathe calmly and thanks God until he falls asleep where he kneels. A small group of people he’s helped happen to come across him. They have to carry him onto their cart the way he is in order for them to take him away to their settlement.
You can't have a battle against demons without Doom music. Rip and Tear from Doom (2016).
