Bright Moon, Burning Sun: Chapter 3 – Conflict Builds Character

Chapter 3 – Conflict Builds Character
The man, Solare, and Luna quickly walk away from the scene of the fight while making their way through the ruins of the city.
“Come on you two, we still have a ways to go,” the man says.
“How come we’re moving so fast?” Luna asks as she struggles to keep up.
“The black birds tend to not let their prey get away from them. They retreat, regroup, and come back with more birds to get what they want.”
“Where do they come from?”
“I don’t know, but I’m sure if the military was still alive, then they would’ve done something about them if the birds didn’t destroy them.”
“Are there any in the sewers?”
“None that I’ve heard of, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any. The birds like to follow their prey and I know people tried to live in the sewers because it provided shelter against the birds in the sky.”
Behind them, a black bird catches sight of them and screeches.
“They found us! We’re going to have to take a longer way to lose them.”
The man, Solare, and Luna run deeper into a crumbling and connected series of buildings as a swarm of black birds descends upon them. The buildings give them cover since most of it is destroyed, but this rubble also makes it difficult to navigate for the three. Its structure is also crumbling due to the constant rain and the previous fights that have happened here, and the damage being done to it by the black birds is making it fall faster. Solare uses his cloak of fire to light up everything around him.
“Why are you doing that for?” the man asks.
“To burn the path behind us so they can’t follow us.”
“Good idea!”
The fires begin to consume the buildings and kill whatever black birds are trapped within them, however, the fires also break down the building even more and make it tilt over to the side.
“Hurry before the building collapses!”
Once they’re outside of the building, they see eight or more black birds going into the previous building they were in with more flying in that screech to notify the others that their prey is outside. As the connecting makeshift bridges begin to fall, the three make a jump to another building. A black bird from behind them manages to grab onto the man and take him away with a couple others so he doesn’t escape.
“The entrance to the sewers isn’t too far from here! Agh! It’s below that skyscraper! Hurry!”
Luna turns back to watch him be carried off as Solare grabs her hand and urges her forward.
“There’s nothing we can do for him!”
“I’m sorry!”
“Don’t worry about me! Just go!”
Solare and Luna try to escape the birds, but they are quickly surrounded. Unsure of where to go, Luna moves around to look for an opening and accidentally steps on a fragile part of the roof that starts to fall when she steps on it.
“Don’t move!” Solare says as he starts firing arrows at the approaching black birds and moving towards Luna to pull her away from the collapsing roof.
The roof is unable to stay together and makes Luna fall to the raging waters below. Solare reaches out and jumps after her.
“Luna!”
Luna braces herself for the fall, however, the water catches her and gently lets her down to the ground.
“Oh, great…” Solare says as he’s plummeting to the ground.
Luna reaches up ready to catch Solare when her veins suddenly become blue as the waters catch Solare and gently let him down on the ground.
“Ow, ow, ow!” Solare says as the water touches him.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, it’s just that when a constant stream of water touches me, I feel pain. Look out!”
The black birds begin descending upon the two, so Luna uses the water to catch them in the sky and drown them. Seeing what happened, the other black birds retreat.
“Wow. I thought you’d just hit them with it, not drown them.”
“What? Too much?”
“No, not really. Just remind me not to mess with you.”
“So, if getting hit with a lot of water hurts you, then why did jump after me?”
“I don’t know. It was reactionary. I didn’t want to lose you.”
Luna reaches out her arms to hug Solare.
“Wait, you’re going to hurt yourself!”
But when Luna hugs Solare, she isn’t harmed by his flames.
“Thank you, Solare.”
“Yeah, don’t mention it.”
Solare hugs her back. The two then walk towards the skyscraper as the water clears around them. Along the way, they find a sewer grate.
“Maybe this could be an easy way in,” Solare says as he opens it to find the sewers flooded. “Figures. Can you get the water in the sewer to stop running?”
“I can try.”
Luna tries to get the sewer water to recede. The sewer water does recede, but the water around them starts to close in.
“Hey, hey, stop! It doesn’t look like you can control two different flows of water. We’re going to have to use the skyscraper entrance.”
“That’s probably better and not flooded.”
“I hope it’s not.”
Getting closer to the skyscraper reveals that the front entrance is blocked by flood-resistant barricades that Luna’s water cannot break through. Solare tries to melt the barricades with his heat, but the barricade refuses to break.
“That’s some strong pre-flood metal,” Solare says, “We’re going to have to enter through the bridges that go into the buildings.’
The two are forced to go through a nearby building that’s blocked by rubble, but Luna’s water is able to remove it. After making it through the mess in the building, they make it into the skyscraper. It’s a dark place with barricades covering the windows. Despite the damage it’s suffered on the outside, the skyscraper is mostly clean. Going deeper into it, Luna and Solare find black owls against the walls. They have their wings and eyes closed and appear to be immobile.
“These must be the black birds guarding the entrance. I wonder what makes them so special,” Solare asks as he thinks about what to do about them.
Luna takes a piece of food she has and throws it near the owls. One suddenly wakes up, opens its wings to reveal the mouth in its body as a tongue catches the food, and quickly draws it in and closes in an instant.
“It looks like they sense when their food is close by then immediately catches it and eats it,” Luna says, “All we have to do is keep our distance from them.”
“That’s easier said than done. We don’t even know if they’ll move and they’re blocking certain ways forward.”
“Well, we’re just going to have to be careful.”
Solare and Luna make their way down through the skyscraper while avoiding getting close. They get to a certain point where the owls are blocking every way forward, so they go back only to find that the owls have changed their positions.
“They’ve moved,” Luna notes.
“I had a feeling they would.”
The two continue their way through the building only to have the owls block the way forward again and for them to go back and find the owls in different positions again.
“I’m getting sick of these stupid birds,” Solare says before he uses an arrow against an owl.
The arrow bounces off the owl as if it hit metal. All the owls then turn their heads towards the two and follow their movements. When they look behind them, the two find the owls behind them are closer.
“We’re cornered!” Solare says while Luna tries to use her water-powers to break into the building.
“I can’t do anything, Solare. You have to use your power.”
“What power? All I can do is burn everything I touch.”
“You have to be able to do something more.”
“Argh! I’ll try. Come on!”
Solare builds a heated energy within his chest before moving his mask up to release a beam of heat out of his mouth and at an owl that shatters it.
“Wow! That was amazing, Solare!”
The owls then begin to mobilize with their exposed mouths after what Solare did.
“We have to move!”
Solare clears the way forward with his heat beams as the owls chase them. The two eventually come to a hole in the ground that leads to darkness. With no other way to go, they jump down and land in the sewers with the water surrounding Luna catching her then Solare. The owls look down the hole and decide not to follow. Instead, they close themselves up and stand guard over it.
“That’s bad. The only exit we know about is blocked off,” Solare says.
“Maybe the guy we’re looking for knows another way out.”
“I hope so.”
Luna and Solare climb out of the place where the sewer water ran and follow a path that leads to a mechanical gate. It has a communication device with the words, “sing a song to activate the door”.
“What’s it with people wanting us to sing songs for them?” Solare asks aloud, “Do you know any songs to sing?”
“I do. Do you want to sing it with me?”
“I don’t know. What’s it called?”
“I forgot the name, but maybe the lyrics will help you remember.”
“Okay. Then sing it.”

“I was wrong from the start
I tried to make everything fit my own truth
Now it's all different
You've given me a new view on life

Good things in life are hard to find
So I refuse to lose you
Can we rekindle what we lost?

Let's try again and do it right
You can fail and I'll always forgive you
Let's try again but better
I can rely on you to be strong when I'm not

The weak part of me is dead and gone
This love may kill me but it kills the selfish me
Let's try again and Rekindle Our Love”

Solare remembers the song after hearing the chorus of the song and begins to sing along with Luna much to her delight.

“Before I used to be selfish
I pretended to be strong and smart to make up for my weakness
Now it's all different
You've erased that part of me

Don't let the past weigh us down
Don't let our mistakes be what we remember
Don't let a misunderstanding be your view of me
Good things in life are hard to find
So I refuse to lose you
Can we rekindle what we lost?

Let's try again and do it right
You can fail and I'll always forgive you
Let's try again but better
I can rely on you to be strong when I'm not”

Before they know it, Solare and Luna are dancing together almost instinctively. They enjoy dancing and singing, so they continue.

“The weak part of me is dead and gone
This love may kill me but it kills the selfish me
Let's try again and Rekindle Our Love

I won't let you go
Let's try this again, let's work this out
Don't let me go
Let's try again and do it right
You can fail and I'll always forgive you
Let's try again but better
I can rely on you to be strong when I'm not

The weak part of me is dead and gone
This love may kill me but it kills the selfish me
Let's try again and Rekindle Our Love”

Once the song is over, they embrace, and the door opens. The intoxication of the song wears off and they let go and stare off to the side awkwardly, but with smiles on their faces.
“Umm. We should go,” Solare says.
“Oh, yeah.”
The two continue on with a warm and weirdly familiar feeling they are now taking note of.

Rekindle Our Love - (Song/Poem #56 from Bright Moon, Burning Sun)

I was wrong from the start
I tried to make everything fit my own truth
Now it's all different
You've given me a new view on life

Good things in life are hard to find
So I refuse to lose you
Can we rekindle what we lost?

Let's try again and do it right
You can fail and I'll always forgive you
Let's try again but better
I can rely on you to be strong when I'm not

The weak part of me is dead and gone
This love may kill me but it kills the selfish me
Let's try again and Rekindle Our Love

Before I used to be selfish
I pretended to be strong and smart to make up for my weakness
Now it's all different
You've erased that part of me

Don't let the past weigh us down
Don't let our mistakes be what we remember
Don't let a misunderstanding be your view of me

Good things in life are hard to find
So I refuse to lose you
Can we rekindle what we lost?

Let's try again and do it right
You can fail and I'll always forgive you
Let's try again but better
I can rely on you to be strong when I'm not

The weak part of me is dead and gone
This love may kill me but it kills the selfish me
Let's try again and Rekindle Our Love

I won't let you go
Let's try this again, let's work this out
Don't let me go

Let's try again and do it right
You can fail and I'll always forgive you
Let's try again but better
I can rely on you to be strong when I'm not

The weak part of me is dead and gone
This love may kill me but it kills the selfish me
Let's try again and Rekindle Our Love

Bright Moon, Burning Sun: Chapter 2 – Constant Struggle

Chapter 2 – Constant Struggle
Solare and Luna make their way to the group of people Solare knows of while walking through the connected series of buildings. Whenever the rain pours down on them, the heat surrounding Solare evaporates the rain around them as it keeps them dry.
“Woah. I’ve never seen anyone with your ability. How did you get it?”
“It’s more of a curse than a blessing, in my opinion. I have no idea how I got it. I just woke up one day with it, so I don’t have a clue as to how I got it.”
“How is it a curse?”
“I’m always feeling hot and everything with the exception of your hand burns when I touch it. I can’t even eat properly. Speaking of which, I’m starving.”
“We should stop for a second then so you can eat. I’ll feed you if you-”
“No, you don’t need to. I can do it myself.”
“Okay. Let’s find a place to hide first.”
“Good idea.”
The two follow a little nook in a building to eat in. It’s a caved-in room with two entrances that’s just big enough to crotch into.
“What do you want?” Luna says while showing Solare what she has.
“Uhh. This.”
Solare quickly puts the food in his mouth and chews it before it completely burns. He coughs at the taste of the food and how fast he’s eating. While he coughs, Luna manages to get a look at Solare’s face that he’s been trying to hide. She finds that his face is completely black, and his eyes are so black that they might as well be hollow. Solare is surprised that his face didn’t scare her. Even Luna is surprised at her own reaction.
“What?” Luna says with a smile, “Here, I’ll feed you.”
“No, I-hey!”
Luna tries to put food in Solare’s mouth.
“Say ahhh.”
Solare grudgingly opens his mouth and eats the food Luna gives him for a little while.
“Okay, that’s enough. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Not wanting to show his embarrassed face to Luna’s smile, Solare quickly hides his face again.
“Alright, let’s keep going.”
Along the way to their destination, Luna asks Solare, “How did you make those arrows from before?”
“With whatever wood I could break apart from the buildings then lit them on fire with my cloak. I don’t have many left so we have to avoid as much trouble as we can.”
“Are the people we’re going to meet friendly?”
“Hardly. They’ll be friendly only if you can help them.”
“I’m sure we can do that.”
“Even so, I doubt anyone can help us find the answer to our dreams.”
“You have to hope at least a little. There’s no use in being pessimistic.”
“No, but also there’s no use in being overly hopeful.”
“Why are you always so down?”
“Do I need to spell it out for you? You can see it for yourself. We’re stuck in these tall buildings with a flood below us and the never-ending rain that is bringing that flood to us if the buildings don’t fall and bring us to it first. On top of that, there are the various kinds of birds out there hunting us. I’m certain that if you stay in one place for too long then they’ll find you.”
“That doesn’t mean that we still can’t find a way to survive.”
“I wish I had your optimism.”
Solare and Luna enter a shopping mall barricaded with metal and wooden flooring that looks shoddily made, but solid enough to pass for protection. They go up to the front gate and Solare knocks three times, which gets the gate to open.
The man behind the gate who opened it, says to Solare, “What are you back for, fire boy?”
“Just stopping by. Not much.”
“Is she your girlfriend?”
“No.”
“Mm.”
Solare walks away, but Luna walks up to the man with her bag of food and asks, “Do you want something to eat? You look hungry.”
“Oh, uh. Thank you, little missy.”
The man takes a couple pieces of food before Luna moves away.
While walking away, Solare whispers, “Why did you give him food? We’re already running dangerously low and who knows how much left is out there?”
“He looks like he needed it.”
“We could’ve needed it later.”
“Stop worrying. The place I got this from had more. So, who are we going to talk to?”
“That guy over at the bar over there. He knows the most out of everyone.”
When Solare and Luna go up to the man at the bar, he looks at them with wary eyes. The thing that catches his attention besides Luna’s eyes and skin color is her bag that still has some food in it.
“What do you want, fire boy?”
“Do you remember that weird dream I told about in passing? This girl apparently had the same dream I had, and it seems like we both have something to do with it that could possibly save us all. Her name is Luna by the way.”
“Luna and Solare, one burns like the sun and the other is pale like the moon. Yeah, that would make sense. How do you think I can help?”
“I remember you saying that a priest or someone like him could help me. Can you get us to him?”
“Whew. Getting you to him? First, that was a joke. Second, I don’t even know if he’s alive.”
“Why’s that?”
“He’s living in the sewers of the city.”
“What? Aren’t those flooded by now?”
“Not certain sections, no, but there’s only one entrance and it’s a pain to get to since certain kinds of bird scout that area.”
“Oh, well if that’s the case, then there’s no use-”
“No, we’re going to take a chance,” Luna says with confidence.
“You don’t know what you’re saying Luna. It’s already going to be a chore getting past the water and the birds. We’re not even sure if the guy we’re looking for is alive.”
“I don’t care. It’s better to try than to stay up here and waste away.”
“Hmm. I guess you’re right.”
“Wow. This is the first time I’ve seen you change your mind so fast, fire boy. Is this girl special to you or something?”
“What’s your price for getting us down to the sewers?”
“Your food and I want to hear Luna sing a song.”
“You want to hear her sing? Why?”
“She has a nice voice and this place could use some music while we eat especially since we recently lost our singer.”
“What do you say, Luna?”
“I’ll do it. I know something I could sing.”
Luna makes her way up to the stage and the people of the community gather to hear her sing.

“Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies

My hope withers with every passing day and renews the next
The love I hold in my heart struggles to stay alive
Will I ever find a place to rest my head?
Or even find a light in the darkness?

Maybe it's really all gone
My life will shrivel into nothing
The only purpose of living is another breath
And the love I long for doesn't exist

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies
If you can't go on,
Then I will carry you till the end

My soul ignites with yours
Our two hearts become one
Your pain becomes mine
Fight by my side
Never let go of my hand
And I will never let go of yours

The world crumbles to its inevitable end
Everyone is out for themselves
Everyone has lost the will to love
Maybe it's all for nothing

But something keeps me going
Then something brings me back down
And again I come back to life
But still, I keep pressing on

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies
If you can't go on,
Then I will carry you till the end

My soul ignites with yours
Our two hearts become one
Your pain becomes mine
Fight by my side
Never let go of my hand
And I will never let go of yours

This is nothing that I imagined
It's not even close to a dream
How can I hope to live with you
When you disappear with each passing moment?

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies
If you can't go on,
Then I will carry you till the end

My soul ignites with yours
Our two hearts become one
Your pain becomes mine
Fight by my side
Never let go of my hand
And I will never let go of yours

I know that I'm not in control of everything
That nothing will be what I expected
And as I cry I let go of my dreams and embrace yours
Let our Two Hearts Become One
So that we can be strong enough to live, to learn, and to love”

Everyone in the community claps for Luna. Solare is impressed by Luna’s singing ability as well and moves to the stairs to compliment her but is there just in time to catch her as she trips on a step. The community is even more shocked to see that Solare’s touch doesn’t burn Luna at all. The people in the community bring Luna extra food for her performance. While they eat, Luna feeds Solare and he unconsciously accepts it without complaining and doesn’t react in any way until the community points it out.
“Hey, it’s not like I want her to feed me,” Solare says before Luna gives him another bite to eat.
“Sure you don’t,” the man from the bar says, “I’m really curious as to how she can touch you and not be burnt. Luna, can you touch my hand?”
“Why are you asking her that?”
“I just want to see something. There’s no need to be defensive.”
Luna touches the man’s hand and he feels a cold but also comforting feeling.
“Oh, wow. She’s cold despite being near you.”
“You’re cold, Luna? Do you need a jacket or something?”
“I’m fine, thank you. I don’t feel cold at all.”
“Hmm. You two are very strange. I wouldn’t doubt it if the answer to saving the world had something to do with you.”
“If you say so,” Solare says somewhat dismissively.
Banging is heard on the gates. The gatekeeper runs to answer it when it is suddenly broken through by black birds that look like vultures. The barricades covering the windows fall apart as well as more vultures break in. These vultures have multiple heads and limbs to grab people. The members of the community begin to fight back with crudely repaired guns.
“Where’s the watchman?” the man from the bar asks.
“Here. I was distracted by Luna’s singing.”
“Next time don’t let a pretty girl distract you.”
The community manages to fight back against the vultures with the help of Solare, but the birds have taken and killed five people out of eight. Knowing the relentless nature of the birds, the community begins to pack up their belongings.
“I’m sorry I caused this and that I couldn’t help,” Luna says to the man from the bar.
“Don’t worry about it. There’s nothing you could’ve done. We’re going to be moving anyway,” the man then turns to the remaining community members, “You guys go on ahead. I have a deal to pay off.”
“Are you going to take us to the sewers? Why don’t you just point us in the right direction and leave us?” Solare asks.
“I’m a man of integrity, so that means I do what I say. Besides, I’d rather do something than waste away like Luna said.”
“Okay.”
“Thank you, sir.”
The man, Solare, and Luna take whatever they can and head out to the sewers in the vague hopes of finding the answer to saving the world.

Bright Moon, Burning Sun: Chapter 1 – Endless Downpour

Chapter 1 – Endless Downpour
On a normal rainy day, it rained all over the world. Not only that, but it didn’t stop raining and both the sun and the moon were gone from sight. No satellite from any country could find either the sun or the moon nor did any of them catch watch happened. They both suddenly just disappeared. The rain, on the other hand, was here to stay. It rained and rained for days with no real solution to fix any of the mysterious problems that suddenly occurred until most of civilization was drowned by water with the only real places to live being the tall buildings in the city, however, humanity’s problems didn’t stop there.
A new mysterious species of black birds with different kinds among them started hunting down the remnants of humanity. In the midst of all this, a young girl named Luna is trying to survive by herself. She woke up in an empty house by herself with her pupils changed to the shape of a crescent moon. When she was dreaming, a strange voice told her that she can stop the downpour when the sun and the moon are together again. She’s yet to make sense of the dream but hopes to find the answer to it. No one has offered her any help in finding the answer nor has anyone given her any help when she asked. Almost everyone is out for themselves and theirs and those who want to help her lack the resources to give her. As a result, she’s been barely getting by. The rain has soaked her through and through and is getting sick as a result.
She’s entering an old storage room in an office building where there could be food. There are signs of a struggle here with claw marks from the birds along with torn pieces of clothes and stains that appear to be dried blood. Quietly moving through the battle-ridden office space, she manages to find some dropped food that thankfully hasn’t expired yet. Since she’s hungry, she eats whatever she can find as she continues on. Random noises here and there of the building falling apart startles her, but apart from the falling rubble, there doesn’t appear to be anything in dangerous in the building. Following the trail of food leads Luna to a room still full of it and a backpack with food stuffed in. She then eats whatever she can while picking and choosing what she wants to her heart's content.
The roof caves in outside of the food storage room and scares Luna. She looks outside the room to see it before packing up what she has and leaves the room. Two birds then fly into the building and start making noises. When Luna sees them, she’s frightened as she doesn’t have that much experience in dealing with them, so she quickly exits the room as fast and as quietly as she can. Though the birds are unaware of her movements, they hear noises within the building that catch their attention. They follow behind the noises Luna makes until they’re both in a destroyed office room. One takes one exit of the room while the other takes the other side. The only other exits out of the room are the windows, a hole in the wall that leads to the same plunge down as the window, and another door, which is blocked by rubble.
Thinking on her feet, she sacrifices a piece of food and throws it to the other side of the room. Once the piece of food hits the floor, a small mouse smells the food and runs to it. Luna tries to catch it, but it’s too fast for her. The birds have eaten the food Luna has thrown and now set their sights on the mouse. Since it’s out of reach, Luna covers her ears in shame and tries not to cry over being unable to save it while getting to the next room.
Luna is in the clear now and gets some distance before eating. Rodents that managed to sniff out her food come to her to eat. Since she feels bad for them, she gives them their own portion. These rodents are the ones that typically come to her for food and a somewhat safe and warm place to sleep. After having their fill, they snuggle up to Luna and fall asleep. This makes Luna smile for a bit before closing her eyes. Suddenly, some of the rodents wake up. Sensing danger, they sprint out of Luna’s temporary hiding spot. Luna runs after them before they are caught and eaten by passing black birds who happened to catch the smell of the rodents and Luna’s food.
With Luna in their sights, the birds begin to chase after her. She runs through the ruined buildings to try to lose them, but she is unable to. One of the birds manages to flank Luna by going through the walls, hits her, and makes her fall down a nearby hole. She falls through some wooden planks and into a group of people. Knowing that the birds must be behind her, the people take whatever they can and run away without even thinking about helping Luna. She struggles to her feet then tries to continue running before being pinned down by the birds. They’re about to eat her, but a masked man in a burning cloak shoots an arrow at one while approaching them from a distance. The other bird lets go of Luna to head for the immediate threat.
The masked man uses his cloak as a defense shield that burns the bird when it touches it. He then wraps the cloak around the bird until it dies. Luna finally manages to stand up. The two look at each other before the masked man walks off.
“Wait!” Luna says before he leaves, “Thank you for rescuing me!”
“Don’t mention it. Be more careful next time.”
The masked man continues walking.
“H-hey. Don’t you think it’s dangerous to go out alone?”
“I’ve been alone for a while now. I can survive by myself and you should too.”
“Why’s that?”
“Why? Because other people are just going to slow you down or abandon you. You must’ve seen the people down here just leave you to the birds.”
“So? That doesn’t mean I’m like that.”
“I know you aren’t. I saw you with those rodents and how you fed them.”
“Then you can trust me. If I’ll give food to rodents, then I’d definitely give food to you.”
“Save it for yourself you’ll need it as things get worse.”
“What do you mean?”
“Did you just wake up? The world is coming to an end and the birds are here to finish us off. That is if we don’t finish off ourselves.”
“I’m sure things can change if we try.”
“Haha. Change? How can things possibly change? We’re stranded in this city among the buildings unless you suggest that we become fish.”
“No, not that. I know of a way to change things.”
“Heh,

Do you think change is possible?
That the worst is over?
That the best is yet to come?

All is ruin
All is decayed
All is destroyed

I want to trust someone as much as you do
But I cannot go with you
I cannot help you

Hope is extinguished
Love is unheard of
Death is imminent
Leave me and save yourself”

“If there is no hope, then why keep fighting?
If the world is desolate, then why keep living?
If love is gone, then why keep existing?

I can see that you're struggling
I know you want to hope
I know you want to love

A light still shines out there
Hope still exists
And love still burns within us

Hope can be found in the struggle
Love is everlasting
So hold onto life
And let's face it together because we can't survive alone”

“You're such a fool
I don't need you
This truth is sad but true

Where can we go?
How can we survive?
Who can help us?

I want to trust someone as much as you do
But I cannot go with you
I cannot help you

Hope is extinguished
Love is unheard of
Death is imminent
Leave me and save yourself”

“Let go of your fears and worries
We can make it together”

“Let go of your dreams and delusions
You're better off on your own”

“Stop being so cynical
We have a chance if we only make it”

“Stop being so irrational
We can only pull each other down”

“I want to trust someone as much as you do
But I cannot go with you
I cannot help you

Hope is extinguished
Love is unheard of
Death is imminent
Leave me and save yourself”

“A light still shines out there
Hope still exists
And love still burns within us

Hope can be found in the struggle
Love is everlasting
So hold onto life
And let's face it together because we can't survive alone”

“Okay, fine! Since you’re so persistent, I’ll hear you out.”
“Thank you! Now, I had this dream where someone told me the downpour will stop when the sun and the moon are together.”
“…I reverse my decision. You’re on your own.”
“Just hold on a second! I think we can find the answer together. I mean I have the crescent moon in my eyes and you’re-”
“Burning like the sun, I know. I had a similar dream to yours, but I don’t know what we should do.”
“We can find out. Maybe we can ask someone who might be able to help us.”
“I only know of one other group of people that could possibly help us.”
“Then let’s start there. My name is Luna. What’s yours?”
“Solare.”
“It’s nice to meet you. Oh…wow.”
When Luna gets close to Solare to shake his hand, she feels the warmth he gives off. The cold and moisture that’s been stuck in her skin are suddenly gone.
“You don’t want to be shaking my hand. It’ll burn you.”
“Let me try anyway.”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Solare takes the hand of Luna and feels cooled down while Luna feels even warmer, but not hurt by the heat in his hand.
“Huh? What’s going on? Everything else that I’ve touched has been burnt.”
“You see? There is something special about us.”
“We’ll just have to see if this turns into something meaningful-I mean in relation to fixing the world, of course.”
Luna giggles a bit while Solare tries to hide his embarrassment at his choice of words.
“Uh, let’s go before any more birds show up.”
“Right.”
Luna and Solare head off to find help, answers, or a reason to live, at the very least.

Two Hearts Become One - (Song/Poem #55 from Bright Moon, Burning Sun)

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies

My hope withers with every passing day and renews the next
The love I hold in my heart struggles to stay alive
Will I ever find a place to rest my head?
Or even find a light in the darkness?

Maybe it's really all gone
My life will shrivel into nothing
The only purpose of living is another breath
And the love I long for doesn't exist

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies
If you can't go on,
Then I will carry you till the end

My soul ignites with yours
Our two hearts become one
Your pain becomes mine
Fight by my side
Never let go of my hand
And I will never let go of yours

The world crumbles to its inevitable end
Everyone is out for themselves
Everyone has lost the will to love
Maybe it's all for nothing

But something keeps me going
Then something brings me back down
And again I come back to life
But still, I keep pressing on

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies
If you can't go on,
Then I will carry you till the end

My soul ignites with yours
Our two hearts become one
Your pain becomes mine
Fight by my side
Never let go of my hand
And I will never let go of yours

This is nothing that I imagined
It's not even close to a dream
How can I hope to live with you
When you disappear with each passing moment?

Raise your soul to Heaven
Cast aside your worries
Take a breath
And release your agonies
If you can't go on,
Then I will carry you till the end

My soul ignites with yours
Our two hearts become one
Your pain becomes mine
Fight by my side
Never let go of my hand
And I will never let go of yours

I know that I'm not in control of everything
That nothing will be what I expected
And as I cry I let go of my dreams and embrace yours
Let our Two Hearts Become One
So that we can be strong enough to live, to learn, and to love
