My Purpose Realized
There are people in the world that seem
like they were born to be evil and unredeemable. Sanguo was one of those people
and expected to be by his parents who named him blood. On the day he was born, his
town was attacked. His mother and father died protecting him and told his
protectors to promise them revenge, which they did. His warring tribe rose him
up to be as bloodthirsty as his parents were and once he was of age, he led his
tribe against the one that killed his family and erased every trace of them
from the land. This accomplishment started his long legacy of conquering that
would make his tribe into an empire.
Through his wars, Sanguo took lands
and instilled fear into his enemies. Nothing was too valuable, too hard to take
nor was there something too sacred to be broken. He showed off his strength and
took on whatever challenge came his way to show that he could overcome anything.
His helmet was made from the head of a rare creature that no one else has seen.
Most people say that he killed a demon that manifested into flesh and blood
because of how demonic the helmet looks with its horns, eyes, and mouth.
The thought of the supernatural
powers of God compared to his temporary power as a king always occupies Sanguo’s
mind. He knows that he would eventually die of old age or in battle. His
ideology could be passed on from generation to generation, but his ideology
could be misinterpreted, forgotten, or changed and there would be nothing he
could do about it just like many other ideologies and religions. On the other hand,
God is eternal, His truth is eternal, and His followers always practice the
same belief. Even as time passes, even as the number of His followers dwindle,
even as numerous heresies and other gods are worshiped, God’s true believers stay
firm and consistent throughout all time. This jealousy of God affects Sanguo
more than any other concern that he has for his empire.
His concerns and jealousy make him
research deep into God’s truth so he can find out why it’s always practiced and
to see if he can destroy it. He spends years going through the Scriptures and
writings by various saints but can’t seem to find a weakness or a good way to get
rid of Him. Sanguo even debates several followers of God. His subjects may say
that Sanguo wins most of his debates, but Sanguo always feels like he’s lost.
Instead of killing the followers of God, he sets them free and doesn’t engage
their kingdom. Before they were enemies, however, after learning that God abundantly
rewards those who die for Him, Sanguo cuts off their war with to deny them this
honor.
A follower of God approaches Sanguo
and tells him, “Lord Sanguo, The God you seek to challenge awaits you in a cave
in the Mountain of Zion.”
Thinking that this is the ultimate
test, Sanguo takes his best men, weapons, armor, and prepares to go out to face
God. Before he leaves, he kisses his wife, children, and closest friends
goodbye. He then sets out for the cave and gets to it after traveling for a
day. As he sets foot in the cave, his soldiers behind him turn to dust.
“Come out! I command you!” Sanguo
says, “Are you afraid? I am the conqueror of nations! I am the fear of kings! I
am the strength of my people! I am Lord Sanguo!”
Sanguo charges into the cave
screaming with his weapons at the ready.
“Are you now?” a voice says in the
cave. “Where you there from the foundation of the world? Is your voice mighty
enough to create and destroy?”
Sanguo’s weapons disintegrate.
“Are you eternal? Can you know the
thoughts and actions of every being across all of time as if all of time is the
present? Can you save souls with your death? Are your arms strong enough to
open the gates of Heaven?”
Sanguo’s armor and helmet disintegrate
and his clothes are changes to a simple sackcloth.
“Do angels and your followers
follow your orders out of love, fear, and respect? Do they never go against
you? Can you escape the clutches of death and break open the gates of Hell?”
“Who are you?!” Sanguo yells out.
“I am,” the voice responds as
Sanguo is pushed back by a mighty invisible force that puts him on the ground
unable to get up.
“You are the God I have been looking
for.”
“I have always been near you. Even
before you were born, I knew you. My plan for you was made during your creation.
Your ways and actions are clear before me. I have brought you into existence and
continue to sustain you despite your actions and thinking. My people have prayed
for mercy on your soul and I have given it to them because you have shown mercy
to them. What you do next will decide the fate of your kingdom.”
Everything that Sanguo has learned
begins to click thanks to the words of God.
“I…I want to learn. I want to learn
your ways and serve you.”
“Then do this one thing. Proclaim
the truth to your empire and be my faithful servant. Repent of your sins and I
will be faithful to you and help your kingdom come to see the truth that you
see.”
“They will likely kill me.”
“You were raised in blood and you
will die in blood. Your blood was once as putrid as your soul, but your
conversion purifies it. Go and do this and you will not have lived in vain.”
Sanguo takes a moment to consider
his options.
“What will be your decision?”
“What other choice is there but to
serve you, my Lord and God?”
With this, Sanguo goes back home to
proclaim the truth of God. Because he is king, it takes a day for his people to
come up with a plot to kill him. Once they do, they have to stab him multiple
times to put him down. Even as he is dying, he proclaims the truth of God and
repents of his sins. Sanguo’s words ring through his people’s minds with some
going insane while the others repent, which includes Sanguo’s family. As a result,
God’s promise is fulfilled and Sanguo’s purpose in life is complete. Even though
he lived a sinful life, he did what God willed of him at the end, which is
the only thing that matters in our life.
The End
