Writing advice

One of the ways I get into the writing mood is by having music play while I write. Music that fits the tone and events that happen during the story is the best kind of tracks to listen to while writing. For example, Decaying Kingdom, Everlasting Love, had a few songs in particular that went along with what was going on and helped me continuously write the story. These songs are Lionheart and From Ashes by War of Ages and Psycho by Breaking Benjamin. I recommend trying this way out if you're writing something and feel stuck especially stories. Imagine being a fan of the story and finding a song from your favorite bands that go along with them as if you were making a tribute.
The songs are linked below if you want to take a listen to these amazing songs.

Information about upcoming titles and other things

If you look at my social media pages including LinkedIn tomorrow from the moment of this post, you'll see the next story I'm probably going to be working on. Besides that, here are a few others books I will be publishing.

Unknown for a Reason - book cover that will be posted on my social media profiles. It's a sci-fi horror story inspired by the Dead Space video game franchise with similar elements.

Choice and Consequence of Redemption: Fresh blood - a remake of C&C 7 similar to the recent remake of C&C 6.

Deception and Despair Part 2 - Sequel and final part of the Deception and Despair story. If you read the original, you know that I left the story open to a sequel since it technically ended on a "bad ending".

Manga-inspired story - A story inspired by manga and anime. I honestly don't have much else, but I've made other stories with similar elements.

Blood, Honor, and Time sequels - 2 will talk about culture and how influential it is on us, 3 is about power, 4 is about nature, and 5 is about God and the devil.

Also, I'd like to note that my PG/PG-13 books are doing way better than my other ones in terms of early downloads and views. Decaying Kingdom, Everlasting Love is doing extremely well since it's already at 48 downloads, which is a good thing in my case.

Choice and Consequence of Saving Lives: Facelifted - Final Chapter - Wake Up Call

Chapter 5 – Wake Up Call
After Matthew’s death, Morgan tosses and turns in her bed in chains. She’s felt like she’s had them the entire time and nothing’s changed since then. She wants to hurt herself. Endlessly punch her stomach until all of her imperfections and stupidities come out.
“Are you finally going to wake up?” the other her says as it sits by Morgan’s bed, “You’ve been sleeping over this issue for a while now. How long has it been since Matthew died? How many times have you played all of the events leading up to it in your head? What’s the use of looking back at the past? You can’t change it.”
Morgan stays silent.
“Let go of these chains.”
“What about my fears of death and decay? Those will never go away.”
“Those are just part of life. You’ll have to deal with it.”
“I can’t.”
“Then the least you could do is let go of the past.”
Morgan takes a deep breath in before letting go of the chains again. Again, they burn her skin and make her scream and cry in agony. Before she knows it, it’s over.
“Pansy.”
“Shut up. What am I going to do now? Just live my life and keep healing people until they eventually die anyway?”
“That’s the reality of being a doctor.”
“I hate it.”
“Ha! What are you going to do about it? Death and decay will always have power over mere human medication and science.”
Maggot serpents rise from the cracks in Morgan’s house and attack her. She grabs a nearby kitchen knife and tries to kill them all, but they keep on coming until they completely fill the house. They then swallow Morgan. Inside their body, Morgan gets cut up by the maggots’ mouths and sharp teeth until she is spit out some alley in Hillside City. Her clothes are ripped up not and there are cuts on her body as if what happened was completely real and not a strong delusion. With no clue what to do and in a sorry state, she whimpers in the alleyway while holding herself. A man in a red jacket and black jeans and shoes finds her and walks up to her. Morgan raises her head to look at the man who’s now holding his hand out to her with a welcoming smile on his face.
“Do you need help beautiful?” he asks.
The man’s pitch-black hair and piercing green eyes catch her attention. Something about him attracts her to him. She grabs his hand and he pulls her up.
“My name is Nick if you don’t remember. I’m sure you don’t remember the names of all your patients.”
“Nick…”
“You saved my life, Morgan when I thought it wasn’t worth anything. You’ve changed my life for the better and trust me, I’ve made the most of it. Now it’s my time to save yours.”
Morgan is amazed by Nick’s words and is silent.
“Haha, you can let go of my hand now.”
“Oh…sorry.”
She didn’t realize that she didn’t let go of his hand, but she felt like she didn’t want to let go.
“Let’s get you back home. Where do you live?”
Morgan tells Nick her address.
“That’s pretty far. What are you doing here at this time of night?”
“I-I don’t know.”
“It’s fine. I understand your situation because I was in a similar situation to you. My house isn’t too far from here, so let’s get you there first. You wouldn’t want to be out here like this.”
“I’m sorry. I look like a mess, don’t I?”
“Didn’t you hear what I said? I said you were beautiful and I mean it.”
“Oh…ha, that’s right.”
It’s difficult for Morgan to walk, so Nick helps her walk. She can’t help but feel like protected, but also ashamed at the same time.
“You don’t have to help me like this, Nick.”
“Nonsense. Do you think I’m embarrassed to help you like this? Let them judge us. I don’t care.”
Morgan is silent for the rest of the walk as she admires Nick for his selfless care for her. Once they get to his house, he sits her down on his couch and runs to get a pair of clothes and first aid supplies. He gives her what he finds and fixes her cuts and bruises. The patient is healing the doctor.
“Where did you find these clothes at?” she asks him, “You don’t cross-dress, do you?”
“Haha, no not at all. They’re all my wife’s clothes. My dead wife’s clothes.”
“Oh…”
“I’m sorry I brought that up.”
“It’s fine.”
Morgan is more interested in the fact that he’s single. He looks as young as Matthew, but that’s no longer a concern on her mind.
“What do you do, Nick?”
“I’m a boxer. You might’ve heard of me in passing.”
“Oh, that’s right. You’re really famous, aren’t you?”
“Not really if you don’t remember that I box, but that’s fine. Ok, you’re all fixed up. I’ll drive you home now-”
Morgan pulls him closer.
“No, I’d…like to stay here for a little while.”
“Okay…Rest as long as you like. Do you want anything?”
“No, just sit with me.”
After Morgan gets dressed, she lays her head on his shoulder and moves her hand over his, so he feels like he shouldn’t move. Nick turns on the TV since she isn’t allowing him to move. As Morgan slowly falls asleep, Nick tries to slowly move, but she quickly grabs his arm and holds onto it with both her arms. The two then fall asleep together with Nick eventually resting his head on Morgan’s.
In her dream, Morgan sees her other self in a surgery room.
The other her says, “Wow, you just can’t stop going after the young ones can’t you, you cougar? Rawr!”
“How old he is even?”
“From what I remember from his medical records, his age was twenty-one. It’s almost been a year since we last saw him, but he should be twenty-two.”
“Eh, that doesn’t bother me anymore.”
“What about death and decay? Take one more look at it before you decide anything.”
The other her points up at the sky and Morgan sees the Angel of Death as tall as ten towers stacked on top of each other. Seven charred hands on its left side drag people to Hell. The seven white hands on its right side lift other people to Purgatory and Heaven. It doesn’t stand in judgment but acts like a natural part of the world that appears to have a time limit on its function. Seeing this gives Morgan hope and a smile on her face.
“It doesn’t bother me anymore,” Morgan says with confidence.
“So you’re a big girl now eh? Most people don’t get over death until they experience it themselves. I’m sure you’ll make it through life just fine until then but remember what happens if you lose control of your life.”
“I already see your ugly face when I look in the mirror. I don’t need another reminder.”
“Haha! You’re funny. That’s a good sign for a better future.”
Morgan wakes up to a new morning, a new day, and a refreshed life. The sun is rising in the sky on a clear day. She quickly realizes that she’s sitting on Nick’s lap, who is still asleep. He appears to be at peace and happy for some reason. She slowly leans forward and softly bites his neck. Seeing that he isn’t reacting, she kisses his lips. Morgan looks outside the window behind them and sees Harley walking to the front door.
Morgan slowly gets up then walks outside to greet her by saying, “Hey, Harley. What are you doing here?”
With a smile on her face, Harley says, “First of all, I tried looking for you at your house to talk about what happened, but you disappeared. I had one of my girls search through the traffic cameras and we found you walking with Nick, that famous boxer. It seems you got into a bit of trouble and he helped you out.”
“Yeah, I just slept walk and ended up in an alley close by here and he helped me.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I am. I’m actually feeling way better now than I have before.”
“Okay, I’ll believe you since you’re the medical expert. Second, I didn’t know you were so flirtatious. What changed?”
“Huh?”
“I know for a fact that you weren’t seeing Nick before, but now you’re seeing him? I saw you biting his neck and kissing him while he was sleeping! I knew you were a cougar but wow!”
“He was a patient of mine and he helped me out when I needed someone most. I asked him if I could stay over and this is what happened.”
“I still can’t believe it. And whose clothes are you wearing? I never see you wearing pink so were you two-”
“Hey, I don’t judge you, you cock hungry bitch! How many times have I heard you talk about having sex with your husband and the different things you were going to do to him. If I were a psychiatrist, I’d have you locked up in an asylum for sexual deviancy.”
“Excuse me?! Don’t think for a second that I didn’t look at your internet history through the government’s database. The shit you get off to is enough to make me blush!”
The two friends butt heads while growling at each other. Nick groggy wakes up and sees what’s happening outside.
He opens the door then says, “What’s going on?”
Harley and Morgan then laugh at each other.
“We’ll save this for later,” Morgan says.
“I’ll beat the shit out of ya,” Harley says with a smile.
“You could try.”
Because of all that happened, Morgan quits her job as a doctor and becomes a writer. She writes science fiction, horror, romance, and stories concerning medicine, life and death, and guardian angels. The reason why she quit writing is because life is short. Why not entertain and teach people through stories so they can enjoy life and learn how to make the most of it? She’s put death and decay behind her and doesn’t worry about it anymore and just worries about her life now. Nick and Morgan get married within a month. They’re expecting kids since Nick never had children of his own with his previous wife. This is an excerpt from the end of Morgan’s latest book.
“Death is a natural process that affects us daily. With each second, our death inches closer, but that doesn’t mean we should let it bother us. We should make our life worth living by being the best people we can be and helping each other. Love is the best way of living until we eventually die and see the great beyond. Death is nothing but a transition to there. A sleep as we travel to our destination. Life will always have power over death and as such, I have power over it. You can too. Just let go of your fears and take control of your lives. It’ll be scary at first, but it’s worth it. As the saying goes, If you were to take a lesson from me, it’d be this. Remember the old saying, ‘love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love, rivers cannot sweep it away’ (Song of Songs 8:6-7).”

Choice and Consequence of Saving Lives: Facelifted - Chapter 4 - Like a Dream or a Nightmare

Chapter 4 – Like a Dream or a Nightmare
Morgan wakes up this morning still feeling beyond happy. People at work notice and keep asking why she’s so happy, and she responds the same way.
“It’s nothing.”
But people don’t believe her. They know Morgan and Matthew have something between them, they’ve known it for years because they’re always together. What they don’t know is what specifically happened. Morgan goes up to Matthew and she arranges them to go out tonight because she can’t wait to be with him, but after she does so, a patient is wheeled in. An officer tells Morgan that the man’s name is Kane, and officers had to fight him in order to arrest him. The man is in critical condition who needs Morgan’s help to survive. She’s nursed plenty of criminals, murders, and rapists back to full health.
The officer whispers in Morgan’s ear, “You don’t have to worry about it if you let him die. The piece of shit killed two children because he was jealous that they had better parents than he did.”
“I know. This isn’t the first time I thought that,” she whispers back, “but I can’t do that.”
“I’m just reminding you.”
With her dark thoughts in mind, she heads up to the patient’s room and begins the process of fixing him up. While doing so, Morgan sees maggots seep out of the patient’s wounds, which appear to be so disgusted that they refuse to be in someone so disgusting. Morgan’s hand goes over a scalpel as the Angel of Death whispers in her ear.
It says in a searing voice, “Kill.”
Her hands shake as she fights her desire.
“He’ll kill again if you don’t. Kill him.”
Morgan shakes her head and finishes her job.
“You’ll regret this.”
Hours later, the patient wakes up and thanks Morgan.
Kane then says, “I’ll be sure to give you a gift as soon as I’m out of here.”
“Don’t bother,” Morgan says in a cold tone.
When Morgan goes outside of the hospital, Matthew joins her since she sees her distress.
“You were strong to spare his life,” he says.
“Or was I weak?” she asks.
“Don’t think that Morgan. If it was my job, I would just fiddle around and let the man bleed out.”
“But my job is to save lives. Not take them.”
“And that’s what makes you strong, Morgan. Not many people can do this job.”
“Are you just saying this to get me in the mood for tonight?”
“No, not really, but it is a good side effect.”
“Ha, well you better make tonight worth it. You’ve kept me waiting for too long.”
“You never gave me many hints.”
“Oh please. Men are supposed to be able to tell.”
Matthew just laughs before the two go back inside the hospital to finish work for the day. After work, they both go home, get dressed, and go out for the night. They go to a fancy restaurant that has a dance floor. Before they are able to finish their dinner, a song comes on that Matthew recognizes.
“Hey, this is one of your favorite songs,” he says.
“And?”
“Let’s dance!”
“No!”
“Why not?”
“I-I’m a little bit nervous.”
That the best years have gone by. See? You’re already singing it. Come on!”
“Fine.”
The two dances together on the dance floor along with a few other couples. This may be the best moment of Morgan’s life that feels more like a dream than reality. She gets less and less nervous as they dance more. Once the song ends, they finish it with a kiss. They are the only two left on the dance floor as they hold each other.
“We should probably go sit back down,” Matthew says as Morgan doesn’t loosen her grip.
“Oh! That’s right. Sorry,” she says with a bit of embarrassment.”
After their little date, Morgan and Matthew walk hand in hand back to Morgan’s place. Before they know it, a man in a hood approaches Matthew and stabs him in the throat. The man in the hood then reveals himself to be Kane from earlier today.
He says with a grin, “Now you don’t have to worry about a man in your life!”
Kane is tackled by nearby police officers while Morgan tries to stop the bleeding in Matthew’s throat. He holds her hand as he tries to give a reassuring smile before breathing his last breath. They can’t do anything for him when they bring his body to the hospital and he’s pronounced dead. Morgan cries over Matthew’s dead body and curses herself as she feels responsible for his death. A hospital manager allows her to take the next week to recover from what happened, however, it will take more than time to heal her wounds.

Choice and Consequence of Saving Lives: Facelifted - Chapters 2 & 3

Chapter 2 – A Better Today
Today feels the same as every day to Morgan. She deals with mostly the same people, the same problems, and similar new people who might as well be the same patients. But then, it happens. A doctor comes in and says they’ve found the cure for the major diseases Morgan’s patients have. They administer the cure to them and within a matter of minutes, they’re up and walking. Happiness overflows throughout the whole hospital with patients being healed and given the hope that they’ll live longer. Morgan goes to the lower level to see all of the happy family reunions and to another surprise.
Matthew grabs Morgan’s hands and says, “Morgan, I love you. I’m sorry I haven’t told you before.”
“Oh Matthew, I know you love me.”
“Not in the best friend kind of way, but in…I might as well just do it.”
He kneels on one knee with a ring box open and asks, “Will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
The crowd around them cheers and the world spins around Morgan. It’s the happiest moment in her life that lasts as long as a breath. As the world spins, the people and area around her decay with each cycle until everything is dust and everyone is nothing, but bones. Even the diamond ring that Matthew gave Morgan has lost its luster.
“No, no, no! This can’t be happening,” she says to herself.
Herself, the other her, appears to her from the dust and asks her, “What did you expect would happen? Everything decays in the end.”
“No, it doesn’t! I can fix things, I just need more time and better medicine and medical equipment.”
“You know that will only help for a short while. Diseases will mutate and there are parts of medicine that cures part of you while harming another.”
“Whatever. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Just wake me up.”
“How about you wake yourself up?”
“Isn’t that what I’m asking? Wait, this doesn’t make sense.”
“It makes sense in this context.”
“I don’t care, just make it happen.”
“I would but I’m all tied up at the moment.”
In the blink of an eye, Morgan’s back in her apartment room, but she’s chained up to her bed.
“What the hell is going on?!”
“You’re chained to your bed dummy.”
“I know that. Help me out of this!”
“I thought you were into this kind of thing.”
“Shut up!”
“You’re the one holding the chains keeping you together. Let it go and you’ll be free. It will hurt though.”
Morgan realizes she is holding onto a chain in each hand. As she slowly lets it go, she feels a searing pain.
“Just. Let. It. Go.”
She takes in a deep breath before letting go of the chains. The chains quickly release themselves from her body while creating burns on it. Morgan screams out in pain as she tries to grab the chains to stop them from moving. She manages to grab them, but there are still many chains on her that prevent her from moving.
“You’ll never move on if you can’t handle a little pain, you bitch.”
“It’s not as easy as it seems.”
“It’s not supposed to be easy. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Rest for a bit then try again. Maybe you need something more to push you forward.”
Morgan wakes up again and sees that’s it’s only been an hour since the last dream.
“Ah, fuck it!”

Chapter 3 – Resting
This day shouldn’t feel the same as the previous ones, but it does for Morgan for some reason. Both Matthew, Morgan, and her friend Harley are going to be hanging out together for their day off today. Morgan is dressed in a casual purple tank top and deep blue jeans with white sneakers. When she meets up with Matthew, she sees that he’s wearing an orange short sleeve shirt and light blue jeans with light grey shoes. Harley, on the other hand, is wearing her police jacket with her normal clothes that are like Morgan’s.
“Do you really have to wear that today?” Morgan asks Harley.
“Of course I do,” Harley responds, “People here already know who I am. There’s no point in hiding.”
“Or do you just like the attention?”
“It’s also that, but they don’t always rush up to me. They know mine and my girls’ methods.”
“Where are they anyway?”
“At the station, keeping an eye on things in the city while I’m away. They got things under control.”
“You should’ve been doing that in the first place.”
“I know you’re mad about constant treating victims of crime, but we’re trying our best. Trust me.”
“Yeah, Morgan. I’m sure Harley is doing her best. Besides, why would you distrust her?” Matthew asks.
“Yeah, Morgan. Why don’t you listen to your boyfriend?”
“He’s not my boyfriend, Harley.”
“Whatever you say. I know when I see true love. Anyways, we can go anywhere you like in the city. I am the chief of police after all.”
“I’m fine with anywhere. Where do you want to go, Matthew?”
“I’d just like to go to the mall.”
“Really? You have the keys to the city and you just want to go to a simple mall?”
“What can I say? I’m a simple guy.”
Matthew’s always been the kind of guy to shop for clothes and shoes while Morgan could care less about shopping. Every time she takes a day off, she feels like she could be ignoring someone in pain that’s in the hospital. She tries to keep it out of her mind by saying that the other doctors can handle it, but sometimes, they can’t. There have been times that the doctors needed Morgan’s help and she wasn’t there, however, there have also been situations when she was there, and nothing changed. Because of that, she just has to trust the people she works with and that the city doesn’t decide to kill itself today.
As they’re shopping, a small fight breaks out in one of the lower levels which leads to two people pulling guns on each other. Morgan crouches and tries to move to the escalators, but Harley stops her.
“Hold on there,” Harley whispers, “I’ll head down there with you. Just follow my lead.”
Harley quietly leads Morgan to the lower floors while listening to the conversation. It appears that the two people have been going through tough times and this has torn their relationship apart until things have boiled over. Once they are down on the lower floor, the two people shoot each other at the same time. Morgan rushes over to them and asks for all the medical equipment in the building while Harley calls for an ambulance. Using all of her medical expertise, Morgan quickly patches up the two people and stabilizes them until an ambulance can pick them up. She wants to go with them to the hospital, but Harley and Matthew remind her to have some faith in the doctors she works with. Morgan doesn’t hear anything about the two people until a doctor from the hospital calls her to inform her that they’ve saved their lives thanks to what Morgan did.
The three celebrate with dinner at Harley’s house where they enjoy a grand meal with dessert at the end. After saying goodbye to Harley, Matthew walks Morgan home.
“This was a crazy day wasn’t it?” Matthew asks.
“Yeah, but I enjoyed it,” Morgan says.
“I think I should get you something special.”
“Thanks, but you don’t have to. Saving lives is its own reward.”
“No, wait I got something.”
Matthew turns Morgan around and kisses her. All the while this is happening, she’s hoping that this isn’t another hallucination or dream.
“I-uh. That was a great reward.”
“How about we go out on a date next time? I’ll see you tomorrow until then.”
“See you then.”

Morgan goes inside her house and tries to wake herself up but she’s already awake and happily in love.

Choice and Consequence of Saving Lives: Facelifted - Chapter 1 - Fighting Against the Natural

Chapter 1 – Fighting Against the Natural
The condition Morgan has is called Speculum Humanae or the Human Mirror. Most people experience it as lucid dreams while few recognize it for what it is. It appears during the most vital moments in your life and shows your worst side. The mirror tries to force you to face yourself to get your life in order. Many paranormal events can happen to you when you have the condition. It’s best to resolve the problems in your life to cure the mirror as fast as possible before things get too dangerous.
One of Morgan’s fellow coworkers leads her to a surgery room. She’s already been told what kind of surgery she’s going to do. It’s late in the afternoon and she’s tired from a full day’s work with this being the last thing on her list.
Along the way, he says, “Are you sure you okay? I could’ve sworn you’ve taken that medication more than once already.”
“Don’t worry about it,” she responds in a cold tone.
“I’m serious, Morgan. I think you’re pushing yourself too hard.”
“It’s sweet of you to care, but I got a handle on this.”
“You’re always moving around like you’re still young, but the years have taken their toll on you.”
Morgan gives him a death stare.
“Welp. That’s the signal to shut up. Good luck with the surgery.”
“You know I don’t need luck.”
A team of doctors is watching from a distance to observe Morgan’s work. Since she is an expert in her field, many aspiring doctors watch her as she works. She gets to work immediately without thinking since doing this is like breathing to her. As she works, the Angel of Death distracts her. It touches her hands, moves her tools, and tells her that this person will eventually die anyway. Nothing it does works as Morgan keeps her concentration, so it touches the patient’s body which makes its organs come alive to strangle Morgan. Morgan’s dedication is what pulls her through the surgery until its done. She falls over as her strength is completely spent.
Morgan wakes up on a couch in her office.
A colleague enters her office and says, “Great job as always on the surgery. I just wished you could’ve stayed longer to say something to the aspiring doctors.”
“Tell them to keep headache medicine handy and get plenty of sleep before work,” she says.
“Ha, okay. You’re done for the day, right?”
“Yep. What about you?”
“I got to stay for a bit longer since I came in later. Pray for me.”
“Will do if I don’t pass out as soon as I get home.”
“Haha, I wouldn’t blame you.”
At the hospital’s exit, a smile is brought to Morgan’s face when she sees Matthew who’s waiting for her.
He says, “Hellllo nurse. Or should I say, doctor.”
“How’s your day been, Mat?”
“You know, another day, another headache.”
“That’s my saying.”
“It’s a good one. So, am I driving you home or what?”
“You don’t have to. I don’t live that far away.”
“It’s fine. We don’t spend that much time together outside of breakfast and lunch, so let me drive you home.”
“Okay then, but don’t expect a tip.”
“Damn.”
Morgan gets into Matthew’s car, which is a decent two door orange car.
“How was work today? I heard a couple newbie doctors came to watch the master work,” Matthew says.
“Yeah, but it wasn’t anything special. I had to go pass out in my office after I showed them how I worked.”
“You had to pass out in your office? Morgan, are you okay?”
“I am.”
“Really? You’ve been taking different kinds of medication recently.”
“I’m a doctor. I know what I’m doing.”
“But if you’re okay, then you wouldn’t need it.”
“It’s just been a rough week. It’ll pass soon.”
“I hope so.”
Matthew drops off Morgan at her apartment then both say goodbye until tomorrow. Morgan does her normal routine of taking a shower and watching TV while she looks through her favorite sites on the internet in lazy clothing. There’s a knock at her door and she answers it to see Matthew. She’s somewhat embarrassed because her lazy clothing is pretty revealing, but she tries to play it off.
“H-hi Matthew, what are you doing here?”
“I figured I’d stay with you a bit. Like I said, we don’t really have time to hang out with each other.”
“Oh ok. Do you want me to get you something to eat?”
“No, it’s fine.”
Matthew walks into her apartment and sits down on the couch in front of the TV.
“Do you usually greet people wearing that? Are you running some kind of side business that I don’t know about?”
“No! I just wasn’t expecting any visitors.”
Morgan sits down with Matthew. He sits closer to her, which makes her feel a little uncomfortable.
“What? Are you uncomfortable?”
“No.”
“You sure seem like it. I thought a doctor like you that’s comfortable with gore would be comfortable sitting next to her best friend.”
“I’m fine.”
Morgan snuggles up to Matthew.
“Now, do you feel uncomfortable?”
“I feel better than comfortable.”
They both watch TV for a bit.
“Morgan?”
“Yeah?”
“Why did you have a dating profile?”
“How did you know about that?!”
“A friend told me about it and he showed me it. I think it’s funny that the youngest you’ll date is an eighteen-year-old, which is as young as you can go.”
“I-”
“What about those clothes you were wearing in your profile picture and gallery? I’ve never seen you in skimpier clothing and we’ve gone to the beach together.”
“Well, you see-”
“And oh boy the kinky stuff-”
Morgan puts her hand over Matthew’s mouth as her face is red as a rose.
“I deleted that thing last week. Why do you even want to know?”
“I know you’re interested in me. Why haven’t you said anything?”
“Be-because I-”
Matthew kisses Morgan before she can explain herself. He lays her down on the couch and she goes along with it as she’s blissfully happy. She then feels something from him that doesn’t feel natural. When she looks down at Matthew’s crotch, a tapeworm-like snake tries to devour her. Morgan quickly falls off the couch.
“What is it, Morgan? I thought that’s what you’ve wanted?” the imitation of Matthew says.
Morgan quickly runs to the kitchen and grabs a knife. She manages to cut off the tapeworm snake, but three grow in its place.
“It’s always good to have more than one!”
“You’re overcompensating!” Morgan says back as she throws her knife into the head of the fake Matthew.
She slowly walks over to the things body and examines it.
“That’s one way to tell someone you’re not interested,” a woman behind Morgan says.
A woman who is Morgan. An other her in other words.
“Who are you?”
“I’m you, but I express myself more.”
“If you don’t want to end up like him, wake me up from this dream!”
“Okay but expect more if you don’t deal with them.”
The other her smacks Morgan and Morgan wakes up in her bed.
“What a bitch…Wait, that was me…Stupid bitch.”

Choice and Consequence of Saving Lives: Facelifted - Prologue - A Different Kind of Guardian Angel

Prologue – A Different Kind of Guardian Angel
Every person has a reason for being a doctor. To save lives, because they’ve witnessed suffering, or maybe because it pays well. Morgan is a doctor because she wanted to fight against death itself. Because of how medical technology was slowly advancing, she thought that if she could keep her patients alive for long enough then they would be alive when the time came when the cure to most major diseases would be discovered. This was wishful thinking indeed as this never happened nor did a hint of it ever exist. Morgan just kept it to herself and only told it to her friend Matthew when they were out drinking, so if he heard it, he would think it was just her acting drunk. The two have been friends since Morgan’s college years, but Matthew became a security guard while Morgan became a doctor.
When they both moved to Hillside City, they experienced suffering never seen before in a city notorious for craziness. Morgan quickly became one of the best doctors because of her skills and dedication in fighting against the fading of life. She became friends with Harley, the chief of police, along with several other police officers who taught her how to defend herself. They would take her out on assignments as a field medic and again, she gained prestige for her skills. She gained dozens of awards, but she never accomplished her true goal. People still died around her and in her care. Matthew’s always been there for her, but she’s never been able to tell him her true feelings. She thinks to herself that he wouldn’t like to be with her since she’s ten years older than him with her being thirty-five years old and him being twenty-five. Besides that, she also has a condition that she keeps secret from everyone she knows. A condition that’s not uncommon for people who are stressed out as she is.
Even though she lives by herself on a doctor’s salary, she lives in a moderate apartment not too far from the hospital she works at. The hospital managers offered her a high-end apartment room only a block away from it, but she refused it after trying it out for a week. While she lived there, she swore she could hear groaning and the screams of pain from the patients in the hospital. Of course, she didn’t tell the hospital managers that this was the reason why and just said she liked to live humbler, which is partially true. As she gets ready for the day, an odd noise catches her attention though she ignores it at first.
“It’s probably the sound of the morning rush hour,” she thinks to herself.
Once she exits her room, the noise gets louder and slanted.
“Ha, maybe it’s the neighbors having fun in the morning,” she jokes to herself.
But something about the noise disturbs her. Morgan leaves her apartment building in time to see an ambulance pass by it. People around her talk about how there was a shooting in the area and that nobody on either side survived. They talk about how it would’ve ended differently if a doctor had been there to save them. For some reason, Morgan feels guilty and can almost hear the Angel of Death laughing at her. This kicks her into high gear and she’s at the hospital just in time to see the place littered with injured patients who appear to be on the verge of death. The hospital walls are covered with smears of blood. There are family members who are crying over the bodies of the people who they lost.
Matthew catches her attention and says, “Morgan, we need your help now!”
Morgan gets to an operating room in time to save a patient, but then two other ones die in the meantime.
“You could’ve saved them!” Morgan screams at the two doctors who turn to look at her.
Both of them look exactly like her and they say, “I’m sorry…I’m so sorry,” while crying.
“They didn’t have enough time to save them, Morgan! Don’t chastise them for something they couldn’t do and help these other people!” another doctor says.
Morgan goes over to a woman who is giving birth to a child. The woman is crying out in agony and has to be strapped to the gurney because of how she’s spazzing out. The fetus then births itself by carving its way out of its mother’s chest.
It says to Morgan, “You couldn’t save either of us and you expect to save people like us?”
The fetus then turns into maggots that fill the room. A doctor moves Morgan to help other patients, but the maggots eat them alive. A dark angel claims the lives of other patients while the maggots form one singular snake-like being. Morgan tries to stop the dark angel, but her body grows old until she can no longer walk. She lies on the ground unable to move as death and decay claim the lives of other patients until they claim hers.
She then wakes up at her desk in her office.
A doctor walks in and says, “You ready for another big day?”
Morgan pops a few headache pills then says, “I’m ready.”

New, old book

I've been thinking of making a remake of the first book I published. Here's the cover for the remake. It'll take a different path from the original. Instead of Morgan's guilt being her enemy, it's going to be death and decay itself. I'm not sure if I should make this part free then publish this together with the original story. Even though both have similar characters and setting, this one deals with different themes. Also the other story that was originally put with this one will have its separate remake.

Decaying Kingdom, Everlasting Love - Final Chapter - An Act of True Love + download link to full story

Chapter 10 – An Act of True Love
The couple approaches the earth’s core. A small flame in a humongous cavern designed to hold it and keep it burning. The figure sitting by it stands by it and reveals itself to them. The name of the entity is a man who is called Impietas. He betrayed Sanctor, betrayed Senium, and betrayed humanity. There was no man, animal, or spirit whose name and being he didn’t blaspheme. Because of that, he was cursed by all of creation with a crown with a finger from the seven kings of the earth from his time. His skirt is made from a single piece of bone and a single blood drop from his victims. The triangles on his six hands curse the name of Sanctor and Senium at the same time. His entire being is evil and decay. He is truly the most sinful being man has ever made.
Impietas says to the two, “Are you two the next heirs to the flame or are you mere ash?”
Cinis and Favilla stand back to back with their weapons pointed at Impietas.
They say together, “We’re the flame that burns greater than the sun. For Sanctor, for our family, and for the human race.”
“Then let me feel your heat.”
Cinis and Favilla clash with Impietas. His arms are like steel like the devil man’s, but they’re quicker and hit harder. They’re fast enough to deflect Favilla’s arrows then quickly block Cinis’ slashes. Impietas’ experience has defeated many experienced heroes, beasts, and demons, which makes him an incredibly hard foe to face. Impietas goes on the attack and manages to counterattack Cinis then throws him at Favilla. He then unleashes a barrage of punches on the couple before backing away when the two counterattack.
Getting back on their feet, they attack again and manage to get in a few hits before Impietas counters again by hitting Cinis with all six of his fists then quickly smacks away Favilla so that they collide into each other. Impietas then slams both of them into the ground and gets some distance to avoid being hit.
“Cinis…”
“Favilla…”
“I…”
“I…”
Their resolve builds in their soul so much so that it spread to their body.
“I love you,” they say together as they rise.
Their bodies and weapons are glowing a radiant life. Embers dance around them and a fire burns in their eyes.
They say together, “Actus amoris summa. The greatest act of all is true love. This is the proverb of Fornax. Love is how we live. Love is why we live.”
With light flowing through their veins, they unleash an assault of overwhelming attacks on Impietas. He no longer can counterattack as the couple’s attacks are too much for him. Cinis and Favilla’s attacks break through his defenses and they continuously beat him until they finish with one combined attack. Cinis gives Favilla one of his swords then the two slice right through Impietas who bursts into light.

Cinis and Favilla walk to the earth’s core and put their hands over it. The energy in their souls resonates with the core and starts to burn them a little, but they’ve been burned enough by life for it not to bother them. The earth’s core then bursts into fire, which rids the earth of rot and decay and lights up the sun as well. Sanctor gives Cinis and Favilla two crowns as they are the new king and queen of flame. Their lives are extended by three hundred years along with their youth. In that span of time, they rebuild Fornax back to its former glory. Even though their parents raised them to do something they were too afraid of doing, they honor their memory with a statue in the kingdom. All of this is done out of love. True love, which is the greatest act of all.
