The Dimensions (The Upside of Down and The Left side of Right Lore)

Constants between all dimensions in the stories The Upside of Down and The Left side of Right.

  • Card symbols in eyes
These give people an idea of what each other's personalities are like, but not the whole picture. This is coupled with the appearance that people come in with.

Spade
- Aggressive, fiercely protect what they hold dear.

Club
- Rely on karma and fate itself to carry them through.

Diamond
- Wise people that plan ahead.

Hearts
- people that know when to use the right kind of love (harsh/gentle, friendly/romantic, and motherly/fatherly love). They also know which kind of love they are currently feeling.

  • These stories take place in dimensions that are inhabited by young people that let them do what they want.
  • Gravity and other things consistent with this world like the elements and things like it act differently here.
  • These places allow their inhabitants to be immortal as they cannot be killed and can only be injured for a day (at most) before they are pieced back together by the healing system in their body.
  • There is no hunger or thirst in these dimensions.
  • Each dimension stretches into infinity so an infinite number of people can be kept there.
  • If a person were to go back the way they came in, they would come out at the exact same time they left as if no time had passed at all. They cannot go back into the dimension they left and would have to stumble upon another to enter another dimension if they wanted to.
  • Each inhabitant of these dimensions have their bodies broken apart in certain areas to allow functions special to each dimension. The most common of which are weapons. Since the stomach is separated from the legs, females cannot bear children.
  • The left eye always changes to something different like a flower, mineral, or symbol, which represents rebellion.
  • The purpose of these dimensions is to teach the rebellious young the important lessons of life that they would've otherwise learned as they aged.

Differences

The Upside of Down

  • Crystal dimension where everything and everyone is made of crystal. Crystal dimensions are accessed by falling or being sucked into a hole or cave filled with crystals.
  • A flower that matches the personality of each person is in their right eye.
  • Gravity is reversed, so people have
  • The bodies of people here can be used as temporary building material and can be molded into different genders or living creatures such as animals or plants.
  • Countries and kingdoms rule over the lands in this dimension.

The Left side of Right
  • Gravity pulls people to the east/right direction, so they have to orient themselves to the left.
  • A dimension where kingdoms are separate realities with their own Heavens and Hells. This place is accessed usually after desecrating a Holy object and falling or being sucked into a hole or cave where angels and demons who battle for souls.
  • People here have their bodies themed after horror monsters such as; werewolves, bugs, aliens, clowns, snakes, etc.
  • Each person has a black star in their eye that has also become yellow. This is to remind them that no one can tell them what to do or think and that they alone can decide that for themselves.
  • The rulers of each kingdom/reality dictate; what's wrong and right, who gets sent to Heaven or Hell, and what each part of the kingdom/reality looks like including Heaven and Hell. They can also pull people out of their own Heaven and Hell back to their kingdom, but not the Heaven and Hell owned by other rulers. People can travel between the many kingdoms/realities to find their preferred place of living or they can usurp the ruler and gain their power, which usually happens with most people after enough time has passed.
  • Each ruler's kingdom is set on a large island that they can dictate how it acts and looks. If they want more land, then they can conquer and subjugate other islands and rulers. After that, the ruler can change the Heaven and Hell of that reality, which is now merged with theirs.
  • Though people seem to die here, they are only temporarily put to rest like the other dimensions. This is to give the illusion that the rulers do have power over life and death.
